Hi guys

Since I got my new gaming rig set up I can't seem to find any games that I can be bothered to play. I've been playing the proper old cod 4 but none of my mates have that any more so I get to play by me lonesome and same goes for nigh on every game I have.

Can anyone recommend me any free or cheap social games to play until good old cod ghosts comes out, or for ever if I really like it :D

Thanks guys

I've found that myself, I've also found my love for strategy games has diminished somewhat, trying to play dawn of war and empire earth, just got bored instantly, dont get me started on LoL use to love that game but now It's just meh... lol.

Cod4 is the only one I'm happy to play for more than 10mins at a time and when your on your own. I generally play 1 game then come back to surfing the web for a while :/

Free games that I can think of that people seem to enjoy.

War Thunder. Path of Exile. Tribes. Blacklight Retribution. Neverwinter. C & C Online. Star Wars:TOR . Runescape. Space Station.

Try them out and/or post in the game related thread to what you're playing and try team up with someone.
The games im enjoying the most at the moment are:

Civ V.
FIFA.
DayZ.

All enjoyable and have found people from threads to play with whenever.

Thanks, got planetside2 and path of exile on download now, hopefully theyll be done by tomorrow lol

Guessing you dont live in a cable area then ;)

Im just bashing fifa online at the moment, payday 2 was ok for 3-4 weeks, splinter cell even less, f1 2013 isnt so bad but for me it does have a limited fun factor.
I cant sit at my desk to play games like football manager and tropico it drives me up the wall, for some reason i can only get on with these on my laptop, which i dont have anymore.
I have soooo many games in my steam, origin and uplay libraries but i just cant be bothered to install them.
Im down in the dumps with gaming at the moment, like the OP i just cant find a game the wets my whistle.

Know the feeling and no, my internet is crap to say the least, the joys of living out in the sticks. tho planetside 2 is a fricking 9GB download :O bring on 5th of november for cod ghosts :D

I have played every COD from Black Ops onward but this was on xbox 360. Before this it was always fifa, forza, gta etc i was never into fps.
A few of us have sinced moved to pc gaming and i enjoy the lack of idiots you come across on the platform, the seem to be the majority on xbl, im sure its the same on psn.

I want to get ghosts, maybe even patriots but i am totaly and uttery useless at the k/b & mouse thing, it just completely ****s my brain.
Will i be at a severe disadvantage if i stuck to my xbox pad for online game play?

Well as practice makes perfect only way you'll get better is using it, however having seen some of the poorer quality players i'd say having an ability to point and shoot puts you above 20% of most players straight away. :D

Another vote for planetside 2. When you get to making an account have a dig around for getting a US based account rather than the prosieben ones. The "fun bucks" or whatever from prosieben are a complete waste of time. Much better working with station cash.

Edit: Seems if you go to soe.com hit the "join free" button it doesn't force you into making a prosieben account.

I highly recommend it, prosieben are pretty lax at replicating the station offers etc. There's also a quick way of getting 200SC free (log in to free realms and the star wars browser MMOs with your station account) and you get your free credits :)

There's a twitter account that shows the daily deal and members daily deal (often worth looking at) to make your certs and any station cash go a bit further. It basically just replicates the info from the last tab in the in-game menu.

As a final bit, grab the HS/NV scope (nightvision scope) for whatever class you decide to start having a play around with. Generally with the carbines/smgs/lmgs if you can't see the target properly in the scope they're too far away to get more than 1 shot from a few bursts to land. People in range show up nice and bright/white against the general green of the scope and the outline minus textures etc obscuring your view makes aiming and landing shots easier.

cheers for the heads up, soon as path of exile has finished downloading ill let planet side get going, for some reason, even though path of exile is at 75% it still insists on downloading planetside instead of. bloody computers lol

Yes you would, unless you are amazing with the pad.

I wish I could find the link, but it was tested that a team of pro pad players vs a team of Joe Blogs k+m......

keyboard and mouse, came out on top.... all down to accuracy with the mouse.

as far as games go, I still play cod4 on a tactical couch server, I doubt this game will disappear any time soon, the shear amount of custom made maps makes this game playable again and again.

you tried something situation based?

Tricky Truck
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Scania Truck Simulator

Mathius, don't forget your looking at professionals playing there, when it comes down to the common player using the xbox controller isn't going to leave you thinking you suck.

I'm going through a dry spell myself,

Am finding more and more the idea of having to register with platforms to play something as a nuisance which is not helping either... I didn't mind it so much with steam because I had a significant number of games on there, but not the situations where you have to sign up for the sake of 1 game

Honestly, I'd love to get back into FPS, for pc gaming its where my roots are, but while I've played a few titles a little over the years I've never truely enjoyed the genre since the UT series and frankly consider the original as a "one-off" deal

Have played mmorpgs as well, I think the active combat systems used in the likes of tera and guildwars 2 (while they are not by any means flawless games) can take the genre forward some, but its really lack luster if your after something with a more sc-fi esqe setting

mmofps are enjoyable so long as you don't put too much into them.. many are built around fps engines and suffer problems with cheats during their lifecycle in the same way regular online shooters do

In regards to planetside 2... obviously its team orientated gameplay, but what about new players that want to learn the ropes before they commit to the clan/squad system? Is there the capacity for growth or should you just look elsewhere

I go through phases when I just can't stick to any games. Good and online though - borderlands games give me a fair few hours and the people online are mostly decent

Problem I'm having atm is my internets so bad, at peak times online games are just not feasable :( just tried planetside 2, not feeling it must admit
