I don't see the problem myself.

So long as they aren't all going on credit, does it matter how many games someone can afford?

i wait for games to come out at least 2 month before i think about buying them as the second hand market is great at the mo i go on the highstreet and get 2 for £30 offers :P

Nope of course not,

But the cost of games is putting me off newer consoles, I have a 6 month old xbox (brand new) with 9 games, i paid like 99p for some of them and have hours of fun with them.

My last pc gaming purchase was Prey which was £8 for 12 hours of decent gameplay using Doom 3 engine.

I think i'd rarely buy games if they were >£20 for the most part.

The <£10 games market is still attractive for many gamers (Which means no pre-orders though )
