Hi, I've finally ventured onto here after seeing a friend use this community a lot, and thought you guys might be the prime suspects to answer a query I have...

I'm getting a new monitor in the next day or so (SM226BW) and already have a VP171B-2. What I'd quite like is something to really "show off" either the widescreen, or the dual setup.

Having looked around on the net, it has become apparent that very few games support "true" dual screen - i.e. actually showing something extra and different on the second screen, as opposed to simply increasing the viewable area. The 3 I know of are X2, one of the MS flight sims, and Supreme Commander.

If anyone has any other suggestions of what games there are around that fully utilise dual screen setups, I'd be extremely grateful.

Many thanks!

The problem with dual screen gaming is that the joining bezels are smack in front of your view, meaning fps games wouldnt work that well (you wouldnt be able to see the xhair). Triple screen would work better, but I shudder to think of the power required.

WIC does, but only under DX10 in Vista apparently :(.
As far as I know, Live for Speed is just horizontal span.

Thanks for the replies guys!

games should use the 2nd screen as extra real estate for other things like maps and visual extras not just to span what you get normally on 1 screen.

I had dual screens, before I upgraded to triples. On duals the join of the monitor is right it the center, so not good for the majority I play.

Here are some YouTube vids of games that work well on my system.

Crysis - I only played on one monitor, cos it is hardware greedy and all though it did work on the triple span, I prefered higher settings on a single.

GTR2 is an absolute blast on triple screens with a G25!

FSX is great, so is lock on.

And before I get more "It looks horrid when not in native rez, it's all about immersion for me.

we are after true dual screen game's, any game works with horizontal span.

If you have an nVidia card, then set your desktop as a span, then most games will pick up on the windows available resolution settings.

we mean games that allow you to use multiple screens for different things such as different camera views, extra stats and controlls ect.

Like with FSX you can have the cockpit view on your main screen and extra stuff like the flight log's instruments and stuff on other screen's.

Ahh Note to self, must read and re-read the op's thread ;-)

Rick? If so....claimed!

Back on topic. SupCom supports dual screens, you get a map on the second screen that can be zoomed all the way in and out. And with a little mod actually functions like a map (i.e clicking on the map takes your main screen there). Other than that I can't think of any other games that you'd like (Still presuming you are who i think you are).

Also. Horizontal spanning can be done on ATI cards too. They didn't used to support it, but it can be done. Ive had CoD4 Stretched across 2 screens, unplayable due to the cross hair getting split.

There needs to be more support for dual screens, I know the % of the market that uses dual screens is very small. but there so good.
