Right, I need a new GFX card. My 1900xtx died and currently I'm using a 6200le (). What do you guys reccomend?

The only games I play are CS Source/Quake 4 if ever. Might look into TF2 as well.

This is my system Spec

Opty165 @2.5ghz
Asus A8N-E
2gb Mushkin Ram(what speed i have no idea)
Antec 450WPS(i think)
2 sata drives.

i want something that can do the same as my XTX in terms of power. Cheap as Poss too :D.

Cheers!

Looking forward

What screen res?

8800GTS 320, or get an 8600GT to tide you over untill next set of cards arrive.

if i were you id get a 8600gt delivered for under 50 quid and stick with that till next year when the prices fall on the new cards. then you can pick up a cool running, quiet and low power consumption high end card for good value.

I would make your own mind up as both cards are great. Will's had a terrible experience with his card (x2900xt) while others don't have the same issues in the same games and same settings.

this is true....

one person meant have not have good performance with a card but another person meant get good performance from the same card...

every system is different and acts differently....

I'm finding it hard to determin if my performance is bad now, I've been wanting to check my sega rally results with someone who owns a 2900xt but no one seems to own a 2900xt and play sega rally, either way its a game that plays really badly on it compared to the 88gts.

Oh well, there you go then, crappy sega rally plays better on a GTS, better get a GTS then. IMO go with the pro, will suit your rez better with games that have massive rez in the textures and such thanks to the 512mb of memory, if you upgrade your monitor, at least you will have the GFX memory for games that will need it. Performance is on par and beats the GTS in most games if you overclock it, others on here have confirmed XT speeds are easily got on the pro.

I'm afraid it does not beat a GTS in most games if you overclock it and put it against a overclocked GTS.

And who said about 1 game?, its not just one game this card falls behind in, its others too.

In his case going with a GTS is the best option if he wants the best performance in games, if he dont care about how well the game performs and wants no AA/AF at all then fine a 2900Pro is ok.

I've owned 2 8800GTS's and a 2900XT.

hmm, I only really ever play CS:S so i'll look at some benchmarks for the 8600gt. I dont really wanna pay 100+ for a gfx card at the moment.

I read somewhere some time ago that the ATI cards run the HL2 engine better than the Nvidia cards.
