Just wondering which Apps People find useful, use and why?

Code:
System Information Viewer
Intel Extreme Tuning Utility
CFOS Speed Internet Accelerator Software
APP Center
GIGABYTE Smart Switch
V-Tuner
Cloud Station (PC)
Cloud Station (Server)
Smart Recovery 2
Smart Time Lock
Fast Boot
EZ Setup
EasyTune
@BIOS
On/Off Charge
Ambient LED
USB Blocker

Seems a long old list now.

Well my Gigabyte Gaming 7 motherboard and CPU i7 6700k (skylake) are coming tomorrow, from here of course and hopefully my ddr4 is the day after as ordered that on sunday , so i was looking at these apps on the gigabytes webby and there does seem to be a lot , i have used easytune with my old set ivy bridge, and it was a pain in the bum to be honest, i just hope that they have sorted it out now .

Im not 100% even sure atm what most of them do , or even if there needed at all :)

Just Bios and Fastboot, i only use the fast boot thing to get into the bios as the reboot speed is so fast nowadays i some times click restart to get to the bios and it back in windows before ive even noticed :)

Mine are:

Code:
win_pkgs_5254bdea:
  - gigabyte_appcenter
  - gigabyte_easytune
  - gigabyte_siv
  - gigabyte_fastboot
  - gigabyte_xtu
  - gigabyte_cpuz

All of the other ones seem to be either specifically useless, specifically dangerous, or the specific functionality can be done better by resorting to generic apps (non-gigabyte).

BTW you can disable App Center from automatically running at startup, and that is very much recommended. The other utilities can be run as standalone windows programs, they just wont install without app center present on the system first.

Perhaps easytune isn't really needed. But it has a simple auto-overclocking feature. And fFastboot is included merely as a way to remove the 'ultra-fastboot' option and be able to get back into the BIOS (without having to cleas_cmos and loose all settings).

The most useful of all these tools are SIV and Intel XTU (of gigabyte branded version).

@BIOS for convenience - would use EasyTune more but had some issues with it and its missing 1-2 options for no apparent reason that would make quite a difference in usefulness.

There have been reports that the @BIOS tool is somewhat dangerous to flash with. That is why I don't install it and try to steer clear of it. Which isn't hard since flashing from FAT32-formatted USB sitck with QFLASH (in BIOS) is already a pleasant enough experience. Without needing to resort to any annoying DOS boot disks etc.

I just found a feature on @BIOS recently that lets you change the boot splash screen to a picture instead, i changed mine to darth vader but then realised it was a little pointless as most of hte time i dont get to see it as my monitor normally takes a few seconds to turn on and select the correct input and my PC is in windows before that :)

None. I was using Touch BIOS which required @BIOS as well to be installed, but decided I didn't really need any Gigabyte bloat a couple of years later.
