Am seeing prices of this cpu ranging from £349 to £449

What the proper retail price for this CPU ?

As it looks like some places are highly over charging there customers

Mine is on order for £349.89 but have a non k 8700 to last me so in no rush.

Intel were supposed to be doing a new fab plant in China for this range of CPUs.

I've given up on finding it in stock in the UK so haven't bothered upgrading, a well known Cech retailer has had them in stock periodically since launch but I didn't want the hassle of it not turning up or the extra postage fees, I'll just wait out for Ryzen+ as the only issues I get atm is when playing BF1 or trying to multitask with gaming and other things. At this point if a R5 1600 came back in stock at those really low under £140 mark I'd bite on that and upgrade later on.

I can't believe Intel have all those unlocked 8700 running around yet hardly any k series about.

Thought it was to much on here. I'll wait to upgrade, not like it's going to be a massive upgrade for me

been gaming on a 4770k this week in pubg.can tell the difference between that and 5820k like night and day.the 8700k is a good upgrade.if you got a good card you will get a nice bump.people often think not worth it but it is.

Wait it out until there's more supply, prices will go down to MSRP then.
At this point it's probably fair to wait until Ryzen gen 2 comes out in Q1 2018, you might have more options then.

Still on a 3770k here and I don’t believe for a second the difference between a 4770k and 5820k is night and day lol, upgrading for the sake of one game with questionable optimisation is madness.

I know it's not quite the same thing but the difference between my i5 3570k and i5 8400 was massive.

Double the framerate on some games and every game runs smoothly now.

+1

From the 2 videos hardware unboxed did in single player benchmarks there's no need to upgrade as you are GPU bound.

However multiplayer games e.g. BF/ COD / PUBG apparently benefit from what people have said on here. How much of this is placebo is unknown.

Intel are shooting themselves in the foot if they cannot sell their flagship CPU at the price they have suggested. It defeats the purpose of having an MSRP.

Or maybe Intel just wants some more Christmas money to rise profit so that CEO and buddies can get higher bonuses?

I doubt they'd make more than if it were at the MSRP. We won't actually if that is true but man have they got it badly wrong. So much of a response to Ryzen that they cannot actually make enough of what they want to sell.
