What good TV did you watch last night ? With iPlayer and lots being now available onDemand, share a good watch for others to enjoy!

Last night I watch on iPlayer 'When Britain Ruled the skies' 2 series, about the history of the British invention the Jet Engine, and how it was the world leader in aviation, until the ill fated Comets started falling out of the sky, allowing Boeing to take over. It was a very good watch and highly recommended.

iPlayer BBC Four. Catch it while you can.

Its on DvD, so doesn't really count I suppose, but I am currently watching through Twin Peaks. I watched it originally back in the very early 90s, but the missus hasn't seen it at all and has utterly fallen in love with it.

I really wish Lynch and Frost would go back to Twin Peaks and revive the franchise, it was revolutionary TV in its day. But sadly I doubt it will ever happen.

Ah !! ...well in that case, perfect.

If anyone watches it, I highly recommend getting stoned whilst watching it. Its just one of those shows which works very well whilst under the influence. Like Hannibal and Lost :D

I watched the first episode of Our World War, which was pretty good. The first episode of a trilogy about King Alfred and the Anglo Saxons. All about fighting the vikings and stuff, which was also good and a couple episodes of Michael Portillos continental railway journeys.

Where's my woolly jumper, pipe and flagon of real ale?

Just one program, Air Crash Investigation on Nat Geo HD about a mid-air collision between a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747 and a Kazakhstan Airlines Kazakhstan Airlines Ilyushin Il-76 near New Delhi. Been watching a few of these programs recently.

Dispatches - Nigeria's hidden war on channel 4.
This isn't really reported in the news, war crimes going on. Brutal stuff.
Worthy watch on 4OD.

Horizon - Should I Eat Meat? How to Feed The Planet

Apparently we should be eating about half the meat we currently do for sustainability reasons (about 100 grams).

Thats easily solved, an increase in marriage...as any man will tell you that once married 50% of the worlds population eats about half the meat they used to do

Been rapidly watching Suits, finished Season 2 tonight, as I am on call this weekend it will be a mixture of work, revision, and hopefully getting my way through Season 3 :)

Love it

"Gravity" 9/10
Sandra Bullock, George Cloony, get back to earth after problem in space story
Left bbc one on after watching spain win, just as our late dinner was finished and cleared away, on came the film, was not expecting it to come on at all, I managed to clock the very start, while mum joined me with just enough of the opener left for her to catch the drift of what was going on,
I love space TV so I'm surprised I've not seen this yet, I vaugely remember wanting to when it came out, but I wasn't much of a cinema goer back then as I am now
we both really enjoyed the movie and were sad that it had ended when it did

I really enjoyed the womb like scene when she makes it into the ISS, turns the oxygen on and strips off the suit, then floats there side on in the ISS space to be born again, the suit was kinda like an embrionic sack that had been keeping her alive so far really and, she is basically born again, ready for the next thing

still feels fresh using our new OLED TV, and the deep blacks were perfect for the movie
I don't often give high ratings for things, but it was right up my street in terms of location, story, and effects, was nice to watch a space film with mum, as she isn't really into this genre like I am, I knew the names of things, etc
that were in the film, so I was able to explain a few things to her
The pace of the film was perfect, a nice little surprise, after a pleasant evening
would recommend,

A solid 9/10

Lee, cinema city, Norwich ( picture house) 7/10
biopic of an American British civilian, (by marriage,) female photograper;Lee Miller who managed to convince the american military to let her join them on the front of the second world war as awar correspondent for the brittish vogue magazine
I really enjoyed this film, as i'd never heard of the woman before, she was brave, and pretty badass, who Kate winslet played well
Lee took some great photos of the second world war, especially the liberation of paris, and then photos of an extermination camp later on
she seemed to get the scoop on a lot of things, and drama s tended to follow her around,
the film had a similar feel to " one life" from the start of the year, that was about an english stockbroker who turned humanitarian and helped save jewish children from czechoslovakia, putting them up for adoption with families in Britain

one life was a great movie 5/6, again another person that i'd never heard of but one life was slightly better than Lee.
Man, if winslet was not a smoker before playing lee miller then she must be now! Lee miller practically lived on fags and booze.
After coming home and looking up her work, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was an artist in her own right, as some of her period photos are fantastic, she had done some abstract work, that is pretty good also
she is held as one of the greatest photographers of her time, and it really shows if you take a look at her work during, before, and after the second world war.
A very well written film, and the scenes from the war was very believable with a great cast, and obviously some amazing photographs
I'd advise going to see this one while it is out, 7/10
go see the film before looking her or her photos up!
or go see the film so you can look her photos up
