Grew up playing on the C64 & Amiga 500 (settlers was probably the one I spent the most time on) with my Dad, Mum & sister so a computer (well console) without a keyboard was strange for me, though along with the A500 I did mostly only have a snes & PS1 in mid 90s to 2000.

Got interested in PC gaming properly after playing stuff like Red Alert & Ceaser 3 at friends, my next door neighbour even loaned us a PC to try out for a month or two around the year 2000/1 and had great fun playing Tomb Raider 3, Railroad Tycoon 2 & Tiberian Sun along my parents being able to see the advantage all the PC based stuff for school.

Got our own pc around 2002 and well, loved it being able to play all these RTS games I played at friends for years before. But it drew me in more than that, huge variety of games, great graphics, good fps games, mods, general PC tweakery and proper multiplayer modes, though a the time without internet, I still enjoyed fighting bots in stuff like bf1942 & jedi knight II. Not to mention I didnt have to use the A500 for school essays any more :D.

The internet probably kept me interested in PCs more than the games themselves. Though I didn't have internet at home till I went away to uni, I spent most of my evenings at a friends house who had a spare pc/laptop, chatting away on msn, finding out I could play my old amiga games on my PC, downloading mods and playing all my own games online/coop for the first time, BF1942, Warcraft 3 , Neverwinter Nights etc. Even bought BF2 just to play at his house along with carting my PC along to install Half Life 2/steam and then discovering Counter Strike having played it offline with bots at home and dismissed it. Was a fun few years, still load up CS:S and BF2 with him now and again, not the same playing by ourselves online.
