What GPU do I have?

Hey Jobe, I did read your other post and all I was going to say was what did you read in my sig as I don't have one? :D

hi mate i thought i'd edited it quick enough
i actually thought you'd used the quote as your sig which i thought would have been very clever.:D
if that makes sense

well if its not an ati or a nvid, it could be a kyro 1 or kyro 2. a member of the S3 family, or a card carrying an intel or sis chip - those these are rare.

can you photograph the card itself?
could well be someone who will recognise it

Whats the first thing it says on the screen when you cold boot?
I thought it told you graphics card info.

Try saving the BIOS to your hard drive and open the file with notepad. This will give you a load of garbled text but mine has my card model in it. Failing that, take off the cooler to see if there are any model numbers on the chip.

Its already solved . . . .

And DXDiag and similar just shows if the correct driver is there. Only sure fire way is to physically look at the card. As has already been done . . . . I know my gainward 8800 doesnt show on the BIOS, neither does my laptops integrated one.

That's interesting, what BIOS version is yours? I think this is the text that flashes up upon boot- the first 3 lines of mine's BIOS:

Code:

                                                       Version 62.92.16.00.GP
So which card is rtcneil's then?

As I stated in an above post; I guess that is an nVidia GeForce MX 440 going by the markings on the card itself. As I said before, nothing groundbreaking but I grabbed it from a spare pc to put in another spare pc.

Thanks Guys! :D

hee hee, no problem, great cards at the time. I remember loading up rct2 when I first got one and thinking "whoa, look at those graphics!" - hee hee
