what gpu for £300

Thats a good option, though you can get aftermarket 290x's for 250 so a bit overpriced in my eyes. Alternately if you're willing to wait a short while the 780Ti is now cheap enough to be worthy of consideration
 
For 1080p get the 780ti. For 1440p or higher you might see if you can get a 290x with 8gb RAM. I think they've been sub 300 quid before.
 
i did look at that but im getting gaming Withdrawals ive not had a gpu for a month i just want to order one today lol i forgot to mention i have £270 credit so was just adding the extra to make the £300 i like the rog one as it gos with my mb lol

This. Great card, just shame it is not 4gb at least as some new games seem to need more than 3gb these days even at 1080p.

If you think you will upgrade in 12 month or less get the 780ti probably, if not defo 290X 8GB :D
 
The MSI 8GB is a nice card in the way that it's pretty much hardly anymore extra £ for the + 4GB and it won't hurt to have more although more grunt is more important. The only thing that puts me off is the twin fan design does not really excel thermally with this powerful 290X GPU. Very well suited to the 970/960 which run cooler.

It's not going to be as bad as the reference 290X cooler obviously and it's not a huge problem as long as you're not going crossfire. Not sure what temps you got with your PCS but I think that has a better cooler as does the Sapphire 8GB Tri-X.

i like the look of the sapphire but its yellow lol im not sire aboutthe temps as ive only just got my new case corsair 540 so not had a card in it i expect ill be adding a water loop in the next 6 months so the cooler should not be a problem
