Hello all

i been thinking wounding what GPU i will need to power this monitor:

Phillips BDM4350UC 43" 3840x2160 IPS 4K 60Hz Widescreen LED Monitor

this is not for gaming just for a family member who just purchased this for the screen work space! So mainly used for normal work and word processing.

What GPU will be enough to power this with out any issues. iv been looking at:

1060
480
or the 970!

I may hit some games on it too, like world of warships now and again when i visit!! so any help would be appreciated

Matt

If on budget RX480 8gb (devil or nitro oc)
And you can always grab a second for crossfire.

On the contrary 1060 doesnt support SLI while 970 doesnt have the vram needed.
Keep AA off and few other bits and good to go.

Any modern GPU will power a 4K monitor. It's if you want to game where you have to be more careful.

If you want constant 60fps you'll need the new Titan X. If you want near 60fps a 980Ti or 1080 will do. If you don't care and are happy with an average of 30fps (i.e barely noticable to a PS4 player), then a 1060 is viable enough.

If you are going to game I wouldn't skimp on the GPU tbh, you'll regret it at a later date.

Most modern cards will power it if gaming isnt required. The onboard IGPU on my 6700k works just fine but playing games is another issue. Even my 1080 struggles at that res to get decent frame rates with eye candy turned up

Thanks so much for the advice, very much appreciated as its been hard to decide!

I will basically build a PC with a budget 480 GPU option as its not for me just my farther who saw the monitor and purchased it without any thought to as where it would fit or what pc would he would need to run it, hence my post here!

I look forward to see him on 4k Microsoft word..........ill send you a screen shot!!!!!
