Hey all,

I have £500 to play with some updpating my rig.

Already deciding on the most part what to get.

Antec 300 Ultimate (From previous rig)
Corsair Seriex CX 600W PSU (From previous Rig)
4gb Corsair DDR3 RAM (From previous rig) - not sure on specifics off top my head.
Intel Haswell i5-4670k (£180)
Gigabyte Z87-D3HP (£110)
just the graphics needed.

Basically, if you had ~£200 to buy new graphics card, what would you buy?

If it were me and I was buying today I would get this:

Think it might be unanimous. Thanks

Been hearing a bit about the R9 270x series too? Still don't entirely understand the difference between those sets of cards and the usual 7xxx series of cards

The R9 270X is a 7870 rehash, the R9 280X is a 7970 rehash

Its only the R9 290 and 290X that are new GPU's, when they arrive....

I think that pretty much settles it then. Now to see if it will fit into my case...

My guess its a fair bit bigger than my current GTX460...

I would say 7950 would be a good choice. I would also note that you might want to look into adding another 4GB DDR3. 4GB alone might be a bottleneck.

That was going to be my second comment as well.

Also, with that card I linked you get 3 free games - not the newest by any means but better than nowt!

Looking at it again, you might actually get 5 free games?

The advert suggests you get the Radeon gold pack (which I was aware of) plus Bioshock and Crysis 3 - you might want to check that out though.

Thanks, when it comes to RAM i currently have 2x2GB sticks. Giessing I should buy another 2x2GB of the same RAM?

Also being a noob when it comes to the technical bits, does 4x2GBS run slower than 2x4GBS? If all channel/ clock speeds the same?

All timings being equal, there will be no difference in performance. 4GB DIMMs allow you to pile more RAM in though, obviously.

Like Brennen said, there shouldn't be a difference, but if you get a really good deal on 2 x 4GB sticks you might as well go for that so you can upgrade later without needing another mobo.

I Got codes for gold reward, bioshock and crysis 3 when i ordered last week however, bioshock code didn't work and have had no key for crysis. Got a ticket going through AMD at the moment.

If you do decide on this make sure you have 295mm clearance, to fit it.....I bought the IceQ 7950 Boost while on a better offer a few weeks ago (i think it was £186) and was only until I tried fitting it I realised that I have 5mm clearance to get it in.

BTW, I received 7 games :D
