What gpu would you choose?

Depends on your use case and whether you need the extra VRAM. If just for gaming I guess either would do.

I'm currently using a 3070 gaming at 4K and not run into any VRAM limitations so far, probably will upgrade to the 3080 FE if I can manage to order one.

None, lol. The prices are insane. It's not a question of not having the money, rather it's a question of refusing to play along with this insanity.

Given the choice between the two you say, then I would go with the 2080ti, but honestly I don't think either of those choices shows enough performance upgrade from what you already have to justify the expense. If prices were not insane what would you go for? My guess would be a 3080. So why rush it and pay silly prices now?

Along with the 3080 and 2080ti I’m looking at good 3070’s. Between the 3070 and 2080ti, what would you go for between the two?

The 3070 if you can get it for RRP for sure. The 3070 is slightly faster and more efficient power use-wise, so youll save over the long term. I'm all for efficiency, man.

FYI, prices are already coming down. Itll be a few more months probably but you should be able to get a 3070 for a good price soon enough

3070 runs too hot from my experience.
2080ti if you can get one for £250 (no chance)

just go for a 3060ti and undervolt/overclock it nudges at a 3070. (but you cant buy them)

Managed to source a 3070 MSI, warranty currently unregistered yet, for £860? Is that worth it?
Me personally I wouldn't pay that for a 3070 considering there was availability of a 3080 founders at over £200 less today but it's up to you if want the card now or you want to wait. I'm after a non fe card but as we all know prices are ridiculous at the moment so I'm going to hold out .

Well, I guess that depends on who does your perf/watt charts.
TPU's W1zzard says no:

While ComputerBase says yes:

Ampere tends to be clocked near the limit so no wonder despite the move from TSMC's 12nm to Samsung's 8nm.

Towards the end of this year we will

Two days I go I did.

As mentioned on other posts - get Telegram on your phone, subscribe to part alerts and hope for the best. Probably a good idea to be flexible as to which card you would take - I wanted a 3080 but very happy to get the 3070.

You are looking at the wrong card. If you compare 3070 it is definitely more efficient than 2080Ti, 122% compared to 105%.
Opps!
Yes, that was the 3070 Ti not the 3070. Usually the only chart I cannot read are those perf/watt ARM ones from Andrei Frumusanu from Anandtech who comes up with these kind of things:

and no matter how long I look at those, I cannot make head or tail of them :(
