What graphics card would be the best option to play CS:GO at 2560x1400 at 144 fps or 4k at 60fps?

I'd ideally want it maxed out visually, but I'm not too bothered by AA.

Oh and I'll be running it on very old hardware (i7 920 (not overclocked currently but might do so), 12gb ram, 512gb SSD).

(I'll be upgrading to the 5 series intel in January, as I want to see if I've still got the bug for gaming that much).

Thanks.

Why not jump on the MM and see what you can get there? AMD R9 290s are going for £175-200!

1440P, GTX 970, good price + good performance and 4GB vram.

Would a GTX 970 provide constant 144 frames a second? :)

Would one of those do the trick?

A pair of 970s would fit the bill nicely.

Would SLI be a necessity? Reading around it seems to have a fair few problems. I don't care about electricity usage or anything like that.

Yes, it would do the trick.

I've been playing CSS maxed on a 1080p 24" monitor and get 100fps+ (roughly, not 100% sure), its not like its a taxing game. You should be fine with one at 1440p.

The difference between css and csgo is a new league. Csgo is much more demanding.
I run max settings on a single 290 i7 2600k @the stock and at 1080p and my frame rate never drop below 150fps

Some maps like dust2 it will stay close to 300 most of the time it's between 200 and 300fps

The OP should be fine with a GTX770 or R9 280X I suspect at 2560X1600.
