so im wondering what card to get.dont wanna spend more than about £200

also i got the freezer 7 pro rev 2 cpu cooler. is this cooler ok or should i change it ?

Ha you can have my 5870 , I managed to find a b grade 6950 for 205 not long ago.. b grade due to damaged box :) win

hmm ok food for thought. i was expecting everyone to say go for the 6870s or somethng like that. but i guess not. are the new cards not that much better then to pay the extra ?

My vote get a gtx 470

Not at its current price. The cheapest is £35 more than what I paid a month or so ago. (Also free Mafia 2 download)

GTX 560 will give out of the box similar performance, new technology, quieter, cooler, smaller.

If you can get them cheaper £180ish then go for it, as their cracking card can overlclock amazingly, some to nearly 580 performance if you lucky.

EDIT

Also importantly,

What PSU do you have?

Case?

Gaming resolution?

5850 V 6870 Benchmarks You decide if its worth the difference?

Although the 6870 will scale much better than the 5850 when in Xfire.

Case should fit all cards on the market. Good PSU, will be able to cope with Crossfire with both 5850 and 6870s.

The 5850 is a bargain at the moment for £130 (but deal is only until tomorrow 9am IIRC).

6870 would be good card to get if price was about £20 cheaper as it'll crossfire well.

I'd be waiting for GTX 560 at that budget, reference cards should come in around £180-200 hopefully.

I bought the HIS 6870 as it came with MW2 (sold for £20) and I may crossfire later on plus driver support should have more longevity, but bang-for-buck must go to the 5850 as for all intents and purposes, it performs not much less and in real gaming terms, you would not notice a difference.

I don't regret the purchase but I should have maybe held on for the 69xx 1Gb series or GTX560 (very nearly bought a 470 for less than £180 from another etailer) but in real gaming terms, benchmarks aside they are all pretty much one of the same.
