Hey all,

I want a Nvidia Graphics card and was hopeing you guys could tell me what one to go for as i dont know a great deal about nvidia.

It will be used for gaming at 1920x1080, Video Editing, and photoshop work (why i want nvidia), I was looking at the Zotac GeForce GTX 470 but what are the 460 and 465 like? or should i just stick with the 470 idea?

Also how would i overclock the 470? the Zotac any good for that?

Many Thanks,
Matthew

Stay away from 465, its obsolete.

460 is fantastic value for money and make sure you get the 1gb version BUT avoid gtx 460 from palit and as everybody RMA'd that card. Make sure it has vram heatsink. The word is Gigabyte 1gb gtx 460 with twin fans is going to be a brilliant card.

GTX 470 is a little faster and zotac's price makes it appealing but as far as I heard it runs hotter and requires more power, also its nosier.

I dont mind more power being used etc i just want the better card for cuda and games, I wont hear the card as most of the time as i have my headset on listening to music or playing games.

Also down the line knowing me i will most likely sli the cards and keep for a cupple years as crysis 2 is coming out as well as other titles.

urrm well i can probley spend around 270 or 300 I was thinking about a 480 but i dont fancy paying that much on one card.

I'm used to 2x5850s so i want something along them lines of performance (e.g a card that = to or near a 5850 or better)

also do you know what kinda temps the 460 gets to?

You had 2x5850? That's one of the best set ups you can overclock the hell out of 5850 to 5870 speeds and more and there you have one powerful set up.

If you want something on the lines 2x5850 get 470 and sli it later but get the good version with decent ventilation (twin fans) otherwise 470 is loud and very hot.

460 is relatively cool, same as 5850 i suppose but not sure on that one.

I had a problem with crossfire (the drivers) and plus i want cuda as most apps i use for work use it, I think i may get the 470 and watercool it if the noise bugs me.

but then again 2x460s may work better.

Yeh, i had a loss in performance with the latest drivers.. they did patch but i still didn't get the performance i did have... you will like crossfire, the performance is nice when it works, I'm sure ATI will fix the problems soon.

But i want cuda anyway why i want to change as i will be doing video editing and 3d work..
