is the best on market to cope with fast moving games im playing tom clancy at moment and every now and again the graphics would gerk or even freeze want to get it sorted before i start playing black ops

yes it is amd phenom II x2 550 processor 3400 mhz
4gb ram
ati radeon hd 5700 1gb ram
700gb harddrive
all water cooled
hope that helps i bought it from pc world so expect components not to be top notch but a good base to inprove upon so any suggestions on graphics card and any other inprovements would be good. preferably compatable with i7 system as i will eventually go down this route

If you want to stick with AMD, i'd go with something like the 6870 depending on your budget.

For Nvidia, you can't go wrong with the GTX 460 cards as they are really top notch.

What's your budget?

Andy

There's still nothing faster than a HD5970 :D I'd guess you have some kind of budget limit though. Mind letting us know what it is?

Have you tried installing a different graphic driver?

Also, for Black OPs your 5700 (5750? 5770?) wouldn't be the limiting factor, as the game not too graphic demanding...but it's very heavily CPU bounded. It would basically deliver pretty poor frame rate for any dual-core system...

Can you find out what motherboard is your system using? May be it has core-unlock feature in bios and your Phenom II 550 might have working cores locked away which can be unlocked...

i was thinking 2-250 notes i have software to over clock the card but didnt want to take the risk lol i will find out which motherboard i have tomorrow thanks guys

Current 5870 offer can't be beaten for under £200. It's faster than a GTX470 so you'd need a 480 or 580 to beat it which are big money.

had a look at motherboard it is a foxtron board i have never heard or this brand they any good ?im now considering buying a new board cpu and graphics card pls help me se sense lol

yes sorry foxconn the model is a7vmx-k im looking at the components and they are very cheap but should i expect more considering i only spent 600 notes for pc only. time to upgrade lol :-)

Well my motherboard is a ridiculously cheap asus, but it deals quite happily with a modest overclock and a GTX460, and I can max most things out at 1080p. The main thing to know is if your power supply is up to a high end graphics card.

what sort of output would it require if i went for say ati 5870? also the board i have has a micro atx and has f all slots so kinda puts x fire out the window i think?

Definitely no crossfire!

500W or 600W would be plenty of power for a single 5870. It matters that it's a quality brand as the cheaper ones don't produce the numbers, and can be unreliable.

thanks i will get the details of it, can the phenom 550 be unlocked to quad core or is it a risky process ? sorry for all questions im a bit out of touch theses days !
