Hi all,

My first thread, i feel so proud :D

Anyways, i need a new graphics card as my old Asus GTX260 seems to be making strange noises in operation, may die anytime.

What would be my best option for say BF3, MW3 i was looking at the msi twin frozr 3 570 but its right at the top end of my budget (unless Overclockers want to put it on special for around 240ish ;) ), the other option would be the 560ti but will this be capable of playing BF3 at decent fps?.

I would look at the 6950 but i have never owned ati so not sure about the drivers ect.. and the fps seem down in in the shooters to the nvidia based cards.

I know keplar is due out but i dont think my card will last 7 months or so :(

Thanks for reading and please reply even if its some random comment :).

Best wait for some benchmark results to see which cards (AMD or Nvidia) scale better with BF3.

Rather than play the guessing games, read reviews first and then place the order, and the card will arrive at your door within 1 or 2 days (if not ordered over the weekend).

Hi there,

May I ask what CPU you are running, is it overclocked and what make and model PSU do you have?

As for the GTX 260, the first thing I would suggest is trying to clear out some dust from it - this is often the problem with older cards as dust clogs up the heatsinks and fans. A can of compressed air is the best remedy for this. If you continue to have issues then it would be worth contacting the manufacturer for an RMA, is your card still in warranty?

If you can sort out your existing card then I totally agree with Marine and just wait it out for BF3 to drop.

However, if you do need a replacement card now then I would suggest this GTX 570. It's £30 cheaper than the Twinfrozr and the stock cooler is actually pretty good.

I would love to wait and buy later but need a card now as mine seems on its way.

I recently upgraded to a i5 2500k, 4gb ripjaw memory, asus p8p67 pro all in a Coolermaster stacker 832 and kept my old psu as its still pretty solid (Enermax infiniti 720w)

When i installed all the new components i did blow out the card with compressed air, warranty ran out a few months ago, card is pretty clean, tbh it was making noises before i upgraded, but thought i could hang on for a while, seems its getting worse though.

Have looked at the stock cooler version (bit fugly but i guess it does the job) i will go find my balaclava and see if i can find £30 from somewhere ;)
