Well in case you ever wondered how long your phone would last in a firey pit ... here's a rough idea :D

Quite why this guy decided it was worth doing I'll never know but hey I guess it's "informative" for those of us not so pyro-inclined :p (or with such generous pockets to burn phones willy nilly!)

Link to Engadget article.

It's an advert for the bbq and it's working well.

No it isn't.

I'm not thinking "Ohh I'd best go buy that brand of instant BBQ" (I can't even remember who it was made by)

I'm just thinking "What was the point in that?"

Yeah, im not convinced at all by the advertising line. Is anyone really stupid enough to buy or remember a barbeque because someone burnt some phones on it.

That would be like volvic drowning 3 phones to advertise their water. Look, fire ruined 3 phones. This wasn't because it was fire, it was because it was one of our barbeques.

Well thats clearly the worst form of advertising ever then! I doubt there is a person on the planet who has any brand loyalty when it comes to a disposable bbq. You walk in, get the first one off the shelf, and walk out. It's probably the most price elastic product ever :p

Unless the advertising is aimed at the purchasers so 'the first one on the shelf' will be the EZGrill 'AS SEEN ON THE INTERNET'

Also lolvideo = increased clicks/searches = SEOtastic

but you don't think

"ahh, I need a disposable BBQ - I'd best do some research on the Internets before heading out"

As Fox says, first of the shelf, wham-bam-thank-you maam.

"ahh, I need a disposable BBQ - I'd best do some research on the Internets before heading out"

it's viral. you don't need to do research. the name is already in your head.
The really cheap ones usually wont toast a slice of bread and all the others are usually the same price.
Stupidly cheap advertising.
