I want to discuss what happened to ryan babel I can remember watching him couple of summers ago when we where about to sign him playing for Holland under 21. At that tournament he was the player of tournament. I know he does not try hard enough in a Liverpool shirt but I don’t think ryan babel had enough playing time. I think he still a very good talent but rafa don’t know how to deal with young talent like cisse, babel. Everyone can see he is miles better then vorinon so why does he play just behind torres for the last couple of games rather then babel?

He didn't improve as he got older. Some don't.

That's the gamble bringing in younger players. With Ronaldo (fake), Rooney, Owen, etc. it worked. With Babel it appears not to have.

he wants to play up front, Benitez doesn't play him there. He used to cut in and shoot a lot, I've noticed he's stopped doing it as much. He hasn't played enough I agree with you there. But from what I saw at Spurs, he didn't play that well.

Quincy was one of the best players at the Under 21 championship, look at him now. He can't even get a deal at Bristol City.

It happens.

From what I've heard, he isnt very bright. Which on the pitch translates to a complete lack of footballing awareness and subsequently the kind of displays he's been putting in when he's had the chance.

This.

He's more concerned with his rapping and place in the Dutch World Cup squad than knuckling down and earning his place at Liverpool.

Massive potential but has showed little else in his time at Liverpool - it hasn't helped he's been played as a midfielder rather than a striker. But you have to take your chances.

He needs to be playing much more often and he isn't going to get that at Liverpool. He can be a frustrating player but needs a manager to nurture him through. While Rafa is a top class manager I do have my doubts as to whether he is the type of manager where a young player working up the ranks would want to play under.

Babel just didn't develope as a lot of people expected him to. He made 55 appearances over his first two seasons at Liverpool, and looked very quick but lacked any technical ability.

Sometimes happens with young players, they show flashes of brilliance but fail to achieve that.

Babel needs to improve, a lot, very quickly if he is to warrant staying at Liverpool. Liverpool don't have a "big / good" squad, and certainly can't afford passengers.

Babel, from what I recall, mostly played in the current Gerrard role for Holland, but strayed all over the place. He's a shooter, like Gerrard, and used to, IIRC< shoot from all over the shop like Gerrard. More shots for any player translates into more goals. But you've also got to remember thatunder 21 tourneys, are notoriously poor quality, hell full internationals rarely if ever approach the quality of real league games because half the teams involved are utter tripe, and against good teams the lack of understanding with your team mates shows up.

Think Holland in the Euro's, fantastic against the crap teams in the group, looked like nothing remotely special against a good team.

I thinK Babel was over rated due to that tourney, but also hasn't ever been played in his favoured role, isn't a great out and out winger as he's not a crosser and he's up against vastly better players aswell. Not to mention he's never had a run in the team. So many players, the massive majority infact english or foreign, play better the more games they get. Has Babel started more than 3 games in a row at all so far? This is what I don't get, ***** 10 million on a player, even if he's not showing it give him some games, if you must choose a point in the season where you have several easier games and give him a 4-5 game run rather than never give him a chance.

Don't think Liverpool's set up favours any creativity or running from one side, one striker, two deep midfielders thats a lot of defenders to get through without many other people dragging them away with runs off the ball.

I don't think he that type of manager that can get the best out of young players so i think ryan needs to move on i think he made a bad decision joining Liverpool anyways he play don't suit us he should have gone to arsenal

He went to Liverpool simple as

Had he been smart he'd of gone to Arsenal or at least wait for them to firm up their interest, under Wenger we'd now be looking at a real player

As some people have mentioned he has the pace and thats it last few times i have seen him he just kicks the ball forward and hopes his pace will get it back but doesnt seem to ever work.

And its not surprising he doesn't get a start for us when we have Benayoun,Riera,Kuty who i personally think are all better than him.

Babel would have struggled to get games at Arsenal anyway due to all the players he'd have ahead of him in the pecking order.

Babel is a fine example of why Usain Bolt wouldnt make a good footballer. Just being fast simply isnt enough.

As well as an apparent lack of technical ability, Babel also appears to have a large lack of awareness, either that or he is simply selfish. Generally when I think of his performances, all I can seem to remember is him getting the ball and running running running running and then being tackled and losing possession.

I've come to the conclusion that either he is selfish and truly believes that he can go it alone around all the defenders, or has a general lack of positional awareness of where his teammates are. He does come over as a fast, but not intelligent player (and I dont mean general intelligence, I mean football intelligence), in a way..he is almost the opposite of Jan Molby.. a player who was as slow as a glacier but had a level of awareness that was almost unrivalled.
