I was looking for one of these earlier for my mates build (he's found an extra £100) but I can only see the Sapphire one which isn't even in stock.

Did the ASUS £235 ones sell out and go EOL that quickly?

Yea they only had 200 of the Asus tri fans i believe, however, not sure why there are no more gainward 2 fan or xfx normal ones  Bit soon for EOL

Unless ATI have managed to keep everything super quiet, then i'd say very much yes. *ATI please prove me wrong before i buy a 4890* Stupid NDA

unless its because of the upcoming DX11 cards, no one wants to manufacture much more DX10 cards, sounds a bit dumb but its a thought.

Yea, but rumour has it that its going to be the low end cards first.
That'd be very unusual. Everyone would just suck up the cheaper cards while they were hot rather than wait for the performance ones, which then wouldn't sell at all.

I don't know if it was the tri-fan one, I just remember being one for £235 that everyone thought was the dogs ******** - the Sapphire one on preorder is £275.

I've saved up enough that I'll be getting an RV870 (or maybe even an R800 if it's less than £400) when they come out.

Iirc the ATi 4000 series launched with the less powerful 4850's first so I don't see this being any different.
Both the 4850 and 4870 launched on June 25th 2008. Which wasn't actually all that long ago. The 4870X2 never came around until August that year.

I did ask this question about a month ago, we can only assume that "High End" 58xx X2 card will be able to take the 48xx X2 place on launch.
Indeed, but that leaves a rather gaping market gap for AMD for a fairly large amount of time, unless they're annoucing the 58xx series soon - everything I read at the moment hints at them pushing back until November.

OcUK might be about to the get the first delivery of 4890x2's ;)

Madness to get those when 5890x2 is 2 months away.
