What happened to electronic picture frames?

Next couple years we should be getting 1600p 20" e ink displays. Could see a resurface of electronic picture frames depending on the pricing.

for a start you missed the +
and if you are displaying art then perhaps you and others would want t take a closer look, and not just have it look good from 6 ft away.

I wasn't at all - if you're talking about a photo frame, you can get away with an excellent looking picture on your desk using AMOLED these days with no noticeable picture degradation - we're not talking about using screens to display masterpieces here, we're talking about technology that's affordable and good enough to put on your desk.

remember lots of people are just talking about their own photos for some reason, when a such displays can display anything. I would say a decent e-ink display would be far more useful at displaying more normal art and being able to change it when you want.

I would agree with using e-ink, as they're longer lasting...Do you really think people would use a picture frame for more than their kids and wife though?

why aren't we talking about that? because in fact that's exactly what I'm talking about. Wasn't that clear enough either.

It doesn't have to be pictures of family. You could download anything of the net. Any art.

I would, instead of buying art a large high quality e-ink display hung on the wall. Feel like changing the look of your lounge download some new art. I would absolutely do that if the displays where ice enough and I could afford them. better than spending £200 on a picture and being stuck with it.

makes far more sense than little, low res, high brightness(who wants light thrown out into the room all the time, especially bedrooms) displays

For the modern day where we can take millions of photos without worrying about spending a fortune on film, I think the concept of these digital slideshows is great.

I got one the other day to replace the one which seems to have died. Nice little 1080p screen and its great. Better than having a "oh look at me!" Facebook account to broadcast to the whole world.

a lot of people started using them to display pictures of electronic picture frames displaying electronic picture frames. So much so that they slid through our dimension to another universe.

Why you don't seem them much....

Even better if they can stream from a cloud service so you don't manually have to fill up a memory stick.

My photos all go on Amazon Cloud Drive as a backup anyone so they're automatically displayed without any extra effort.
