What happened to noctua?

Hey all.

So I picked up a second hand noctua nh-c14s... They guy only sent a few wire fan mount clips for 12cm fans and an nf-p12 (circular fan with 12cm mount holes).

Where in the hell can I find more of these?
Or... What can I use to mount instead?

I need to mount 2x 14cm phanteks mp fans.
The nf-p12 is very weak, damn ugly (can't remember the last time I saw mustard & ketchup cables) and currently only 4c better than stock cooler (69c vs 73c).

Can't believe I've looked for an hour for something so simple and can't find them anywhere... Not even amerzon. Found a few on ocuk but theyre for prolimatech and mostly sold out.

Please don't say "message noctua"... I've emailed them 3 times now and heard nothing. Are they still aliv? I have no idea why people rate them so much, even nzxt and phanteks reply within a few days and they're chinese!

P. S
The bottom looks (but doesn't feel) scratched... Is this normal after use? Maybe explains some of the bad thermals...
Should i lap it?

Been down that road myself. Noctua don't sell cooler fan clips separately, I had some prolimatech ones that fitted but I dont think they will fit your cooler.
I suggest cable tieing any fans to the cooler if it can't be seen.

The cooler looks OK but I think it either has been installed in a lot of systems or he was reapplying thermal paste on a regular basis. I'd check to see if the cooler base & your CPU heatspreader are flat with a metal ruler as most people assume they are when they are not. If so then lapping would be a good idea.

If you email Noctua they will send you some clips in the post when i purchased my D15 i wanted to mount a third fan so reached out to support and sent me some no questions asked completely free.

Yeah it's tricky to tell if they will fit by pictures... I didn't think the ones I have (clearly meant for 12cm fans) would fit however I just stretched one over the 14cm holes and with a bit of bending it works. Tight as hell but the fan is on there.

I don't have a metal ruler but have put on top of a sheet of aluminium, which AFAIK is flat, and looks fine.
Any idea how much of a Celsius difference a cooler like this SHOULD make to an 80-90w cpu (my r5 3600 draws about that)?

I thought about cable ties but I'm doing something quite different... Because the fan will stick out of top of the case by about 10mm I'm having to cut a square around the top lid (HTPC horizontal case, node 605 ). I can cut a slit for a 1mm fan clip wire, but the 4or 5mm from cable tie might look a little unsightly. And be tricky to cut for (sharp edges etc)

Someone didn't read the post?

That may have been the case years ago, but now it seems to message them and don't even get a response.

Hence "what happened to noctua"... Either the customer service has gone down or covid has messed them up. Everything seems to be back to normal in uk though... So who knows.

Either way, my first noctua experience and not impressed by anything yet. I've always tended to think their products are overpriced and damn ugly, but never doubted the performance numbers... Now however, not impressed. (gonna get in trouble for that - everyone loves noctua ).

Tbh that bottom looks like the cooler has been used for a long time and thermal paste not been changed much. That looks like my H100i block after I finally took the old system apart after a long long while (5years+). The thermal paste and heat sort of stained things.

Odd. Did you receive the automated reply from Noctua that officially starts (and confirms) the whole support communication off? As you have said you had no response back, but that doesn't confirm if you had any auto-responders (which some see as no response back from a human), and if you haven't received one, it sounds like you might not have even got an email to the right address or people if there was no auto-reply response, so just wanted to check there you're messaging the right place.

The fan wire clips on the official page for that cooler look like a standard design one only thats in use in most of Noctua's coolers, so what @Evilmethod666 said may not be entirely out of the question in obtaining. Also looking at the it closer to other available devices that uses clips, in theory, any clip that matches your fan depth with the cooler size (120mm or 140mm) should in theory work on any combination of them, since they just pull the fan towards the cooler anyway, and particular designs appear to only make it easier to put on or remove without cutting your finger to shreds only, but funcationality, appears to be identical if you match the two areas noted above (fan depth and cooler size).

Yep... Just got the automated emails back. Just checked a month of junk and nothing.

I'm confused... Evilmethod666 suggested I get them from noctua, which seems hopeless. Do you mean I should be able to buy them from somewhere else?

Do you guys have any I could buy? I'd be happy to pay you for them. If noctua ever actually reply and send me them I'll send them back to you.

I emailed Noctua for an AM4 mounting kit back in June and they got back to me within a couple of days to send me my tracking number! So they are alive and responding.

Perhaps a lot of their people are on holiday? It is August, and a lot of mainland Europeans will take most of it off.

customer service on holiday ? they arent banana company and cant be closed during holidays. Had same experience like OP. Asked for additional cooler fans clips CS responded and send them for free. 10days gone i received nothing. Contact them and was told wait 5 more days if it not arrive they send another ones. After 15 days it didnt arrive so i emailed same person from customer service 2 times and got no response. Dont like this attitude even when on holidays they should atleast respond theres internet everywhere in the world these days

I didn’t say closed, but rather if a substantial amount are on holidays, their response time will be increased. Like I said they sent the part within 2 days of my email. Slow post so took a couple of weeks to arrive, but that’s not their fault.

in their cause the response time increased drastically. I believe my emails wont be answered and dont care anymore will find some alternative solution

Always had a response from them within a few days for various queries over the years one of those just a week or so ago, thought it was strange that you haven't received a response from them

Ok so for anyone buying a used noctua cooler this could be important - they got back to me today (replying to first email from weeks ago) saying I'll need to send proof of purchase with order form and proof of payment.

So no fan clips for me. Waste of £50... Annoying because I messaged the guy on fleabay and he said he had them.

Unless anyone here is willing to help me out (again, I'll gladly pay you for them) I guess I'll have to look for other ways of mounting them... Maybe sticky double sided tape? I've googled and not found much.
Something like tape would look nicer because I'm cutting holes from the top of my case and will stick out by 8-10mm. Also, it will also be easier to cut the slot in the lid and place the lid over the top, as I will just need to cut the exact size of the fan (not an extra 2mm for the clip).

So... Does anyone want a

dont u have proof of purchase from fleabay. When i was planning to buy used one CS said i just need to send picture of cooler and proof of purchase with form and they gladly will send mounting kit. I presume same applies when u want springs
Notice: CS told me that the
springs are for 120mm fans even big N D15 fan uses 120mm spacing. For that reason you will need alter springs for 140mm fans if you planning to get them HTH

Really? Wow ok... I assumed that would only be for people buying new. Ok will send eBay form and hope they still send them.

Yeah, both the nh-d15 and nh-d14 use 14cm fans that are circular frames and so have 12cm fan holes. The nh-d14 used one of these and a square 12cm.

I have absolutely no idea what the point of the things they put on the sides of the nh-d15 fans that make them "15cm"... That puzzles me.

But yeah the nh-c14s is supposed to come with a square 14cm nf-a14 fan... I can stretch and bend my ones I have here over, but I've only got 2. Need more, so ******* annoying nowhere sells them!

If I was manufacturing anything metal I'd start making and selling these for sure!

They support any Noctua cooler owner not matter condition. When they will sending to you make sure they will send it with tracking number. Mine springs were sent just in envelope without tracking so i have no idea where it is after 3 weeks

Normally I would just use some double sided velcro, that would work great for most people, trouble is this will raise the fan out of the case by a more noticeable 3-4mm... Ok... No I'm 100% sure I'm being pedantic

I'll email noctua and see if they send some anyway and let you guys know what they say :)
