I had a SuSe enterprise OS on my netbook a few years ago, however recently I've noticed that it's been huge decline in interest...

Why is that, and does anyone have any explanation?

Also - what happened to Knoppix?

OpenSUSE is still fifth on Distrowatch - that's not bad is it? If it's suffered at all, then, like most major distros, it's suffered at the hands of Ubuntu and more recently Mint.

But I used OpenSUSE briefly a few months ago and thought it was great. One of the best implementations of KDE I've seen.

Knoppix, I don't know without checking, but I think Knopper left the project a few years ago to focus on some kind of distro for deaf/blind people and development slowed a bit. Also the appeal of Knoppix is somewhat limited now since all the major (and many minor) distros now have live versions of their own.

Whilst it's 5th - it's certainly dropped from 2nd place in 2008..

Admittedly I don't know much about Mint, however very interesting comments on Knoppix. I remember doing risky installations of Knoppix on to Windows-based systems, effectively creating a dual boot... I think I managed to do it to 5 computers, one of which, I had to format c:!

Ahh the good old days...

Heck, while Im not a SuSE user, I have dabbled and recently with KDE 4 being... WEll KDE4, it has moved me pretty instantly over to Gnome ( Being a firm KDE user since Mandrake 6 that says a lot ) but with Ubuntu being what it is, and Fedora also following in that path, I went and had apeek at SuSE and I was utterly amazed.

SuSE is quite possibly the most impressive distro of Linux that I have never used.

Im so impressed that I have gone and installed it onto my Sabayon box. Thats a big deal for me because I have used Sabayon as my main O/S for a few years now.

I might be going back to Sabayon, dont get me wrong, but for me to use SuSE like I am doing, only says that I wont be troubling Ubuntu much anymore.

MiNT I have to say is another teaser. My daughter loves that over Windows 7 and I have to agree... Its very nice.
