What happened to the Intel CPU price drop?

I thought it was the whole range. Guessing its not.
Seems to be a bit 'random' which cpus have gone down in price.
The E4400 for example seems to have dropped much closer to the E4300, there's now less than a fiver between them which certainly wasn't the case a couple of months ago. I'm guessing this is to make room for the E4500, but basically what it means is that the E4300 hasn't dropped much at all (less than 5%) whereas the E4400 has dropped a fair amount.

Isnt it more accurate to say the older 1066 C2D's were virtually discontinued. The price drop is basically the new models coming out. Ok 1066's have dropped a little, but thats more likely just to get rid of them.
2.66Ghz E6750 @106+vat replaces E6700 which was still close to £200+vat just a few weeks ago, and around £300 just a couple of months back.
Same thing that happened with the E6300 and E6400. The 6320, and 6420 were released cheaper, and the 63/6400's were phased out.
Discontinued models tend to drift down depending on demand. If people want them for specifics (Overclocking) then they may still command a premium price. On the other hand if there is no reason to buy them because the 'new models' are better in every respect, then the olds come down due to lack of demand, and retailers clearing out old stock.
But the E6X00's are still in demand because the 1066FSB make them a little easier on the motherboard when overclocking.

The price drop probably hasn't looked so good because you have completley missed the new cpus intel has brought out and are just looking at the old core 2 duos. The e6750 costs what, £100 less than the e6700? Thats a 50% drop in price.
