what happened to the proton accelerator in switzerland?

hey guys,

im at work so i dont have the chance to have a look myself but from the quick search i did i cant seem to find much info on recent use/plan for it.

its somthing that interests me so if any of you know i would appriciate it - even if its a link to a recent article

it suffered a malfunction so they are upgrading it and starting it back up sson.




Or the old one that was on the site before?

That one ahs been incorporated into the LHC to start the beam and inject it into the LHC iirc
 
Aye, something like that. Apparently the guy who came out with that theory was lol'd at, and then people started to think he had a point.

I think the theory was that Higgs Bosons were 'self correcting,' in that as soon as they are 'observed', they go back in time and correct any events that lead to them being discovered - thereby preventing them from being observed. I think that's an unlikely scenario, though. I think it's just that big, experimental machines break from time to time.

but yeah they said something about particles going back in time... but it's kinda poppycock the idea of it breaking the machine. I don't believe that for a second.

It has been postulated that there are 'self correcting' quantum particles which prevent the memory of themselves or certain events have ever existed.

I think it was to do with quantum physics allowing the flow of time to exist in both a forward and backward direction, however we only ever seem to experience time in a forward direction and that quantum particles can erase our memories of anything happening backwards, i.e. water spontaneously turning into ice.
