Okay, I'm using a 3770K on a Maximus IV Extreme motherboard (the P67 one NOT Z68). I tried using the ASUS AISuiteII software to OC it with the CPU Level Up thing but it didn't overclock at all. It also messed up Google Chrome and all the text from my bookmarks bar has disappeared.

I'm worried that P67 can't overclock Ivy Bridge, am i right?

I overclocked a IB on a P67 board no problems. I think the issue is using the software overclock tool, it's probably corrupted your windows install if it's caused Chrome to mess up.

Thanks for the help, hopefully nothing else will have gone wrong :( . I'll leave it for a while and try to OC again manually once I've sorted everything out.

Could be the ai suite, ive the maximus extreme iv-z myself, and a while ago ai suite stopped running, would crash my machine ive i tried to reinstall it, gave up and started using the bios again, id recommend this as ai suite just started playing up, hope this helps

Thanks for all the help. Turns out the stupid AI suite UNDERCLOCKED the CPU to 1.6GHz! So much for a "level up". Will definitely use the BIOS to do this in future. Stay away from AI Suite!

Yeh seems the bios is the best way in the long run, had a go with ai sute for a while - until that it it decided to complety mess its self up on me lol

AIsuite is ok for temporary use but not for permanent usage. If go one step to far with the OC and manage to lock up the machine then I just have to hit the reset button on the front of the case or the off switch and PC will boot again.

If I do the same thing in the BIOS the clear CMOS link is located underneath the graphics card so have to pull it out everytime I want to do that. It's a major PITA.

Right, BIOS is now set to X.M.P. and everything is working at stock speed. Haven't OC'ed for now, as I'm, worried that FSB/Bclk is locked to PCI clockrate. Haven't really looked around much, will try again when I have some time.

Big thanks to everyone who helped with this!
