What would happen if I connect my second 12v rail to the mainboard 12volt input?

It can draw a lot more power, as it has a larger amp value, so it could fry my board right?

But it would only do that if something tried to draw too much power right?

You need enough amp to provide adequite power to your board, so the psu doesnt go pop.

Maybe i miss understood the question ?

I don't understand the question...

Connect your second +12v rail to the motherboard?

How and why? You just plug in the 24 pin + 4/8 pin power and leave it alone. :p

It is an old asus p5b-deluxe.

The question is this: if I connect a converter that converts the 6 pin pci-express connector from my psu's second 12 volt rail to an 8 pin connector and connect that to the 8 pin 12 volt atx slot on the motherboard, would the mainboard go kaboom?

:)

Oh I see!

Well I'm afraid I don't know. I would assume not, otherwise such adapters wouldn't exist.
