What happens if

well as you are in VR..a stuck pixel would look like you have a problem with your eye. so you would go to the virtual eye specialist.

in seriousness...I guess you return. as it would ruin the immersion. apparently the QA is very high and they reject displays that have them....but this is just what someone said on the internet.

The possibility of this hadn't even crossed my mind. Can only imagine that having a dead/stuck pixel on a 1080x1200 display positioned 2" away from your eyes would be hugely noticeable. Hopefully such panels aren't being let through QA as others are saying.

I've just about seen every horror game, zombie game and all those other scary videos on the Vive and the Rift. But this topic fills me completely with utter dread. Why did I have to click onto this thread.

Sorry guys but at the end of the day they are small monitors, I've not read anything about potential pixel issues anywhere on any site and couldnt help but be curious about it. I was wondering what the policy's are for HTC and Oculas on pixel issues but there is very little info

I think this will be a very real problem. Unless QA is very high. It can't be a manual QA, take too long and be very inaccurate...so I presume there is some automated colour light detection step in the pre-assembly process as they test the screen before creating the unit.

I have had a speck of fluff on my DK2 for about 3 weeks before I got around to cleaning it off. It must have been at least 5x5 pixels big and yes you can see it, but it isn't a massive deal. Eventually I got around to using a lens blower to remove it.

Yeah but I imagine that is like having a dead pixel - much less irritating and noticeable than a stuck one.

A bright dot would be quite noticeable and annoying I think given the relatively low res.

That said I believe OLED is less prone to stuck pixels than LCD... so that's something at least if true.

More like 5x5 dead pixels in a square. You do notice it in a bright scenarios, but it isn't that awful. As for stuck pixels, well not sure how bad that would be.

It is extremely hard to spot individual pixels in a DK2, yet alone a CV1
