What happens when I switch ISP?

Hello,
I'm thinking of changing ISP's because BT are getting too expensive for what they offer, and considering I only get 1.5MBPS and disconnects every 6hours It's starting to wear my tether thin.

I'm considering changing ISP's as stated above. My question is related to MAC codes and the downtime associated with changing ISP's.

When I request a MAC code, and I give my MAC code to my new ISP when registering, will my previous ISP supplier (BT) stop my internet usage until my new ISP takes over?

Or, will BT allow me to fully use my internet until my new ISP does the switch over.

In a nutshell, my question is how much downtime can I expect once I request my new MAC key and give the MAC key to my new ISP.

Cheers.

Hmm, seriously? :)

So, if I requested my MAC code, and gave it to Be for migration to them, I would hardly notice any downtime?

Migration to Be would take longer because there's some engineering work involved, but it should be under 24 hours.
There's some delay between you giving the ISP the MAC key and the actual migration occurring, but you'd still be with BT.
