Howdy

I used to play PC games in my mid late teens, usually battlefield 2, counter strike source, guild wars, call of duty 2, halo. Those sort of online games.

Then I went to console for years, but consoles have become so dull and boring I am returning the PC scene.

There is just one tiny problem. I don't know the new releases from the past 3-4 years. Even worse I played battlefield 4 on ps4 and xbox one at a mates house, my god what a souless game!

I had my hopes on that game for a good starter and now i don't know where to begin.

So could you throw some suggestions at me with a little description of the game?

Welcome back ;)

Here are some of the games I've been playing, see what you think:

  • Company of Heroes 2
  • Borderlands 2
  • The Walking Dead
  • Batman Arkham Origins
  • Bioshock (never played, got given it)

+1 for Borderlands 2

Bioshock is also amazing, although I would suggest playing the first one first.

Batman games were also great apart form the last one.

I'm back loving CS:GO again now and it's been great.

BF4 isn't that bad it's the same as all the genre now. That genre needs spicing up but whilst the cash cow is getting milked I can't see anyone changing it.

The golf club is good
Max Payne 3 fav game of all time
football manager neve fails on a rainy day
Batman games as above

skyrim: some good old fashioned character development fantasy, and incredible when modded, be prepared to lose a significant chunk of your free time

kerbal space program: if you like building massive rockets and watching them fall apart on the launch pad this is for you, steep learning curve but amazing game that will eat your life.

theif remake [aka theif 2014]: for sneaky gameplay with a bit of horror mixed in

civilisation 5 [with all the dlc]: turn based for some of the dodgiest in-game politics known to man, even more so when played multiplayer.

CS:GO, suggest if you have never played CS:Source buy it for cheap on Steam, still probably the best FPS ever made.

Could name dozens! I'm sure you'll get many replies though so I'll stick my vote in for a few indie gems.

Don't Starve
Bastion
Hotline Miami

All excellent.

Welcome back. :)

Games of 2013: I Still can't put down.
BioShock Infinity
Tomb Raider
Kerbal Space Program

Other games that have caught my interest are:
SWTOR
Space Engineers
Max Payne series
Portal series
Halo?

none of the recent halos, the last couple were "meh!"
as for portal 1 & 2 you got a + 1 there :D

+1 for walking dead season 1 and 2, Brothers, and Payday2. Portal 2 is another good one too.

The first two were wonderfully engaging story based games with good gameplay, and payday2 is just excellent fun for teamwork. I've added more people on steam since I got it than since I got steam!

Also recommend Trine 1 and 2 (second is just a beautiful game) and super meat boy.

Most of the AAA titles have been pretty disappointing (that said, I did enjoy tomb raider).

No specific recommendations as it depends what type of games you like, but wow are you in for some bargains, a steam sale where you don't already own most of the games would be excitement overload!

BF4 I hear is rubbish, but I can recommend BF3 many a people still play it :)

Not gonna lie I also feel let down by BF4. From a technical point it's a lovely looking game and once you put SweetFX on it can look amazing but gameplay wise it's really sloppy.

As for BF3 well it isn't no BF2 but it's pretty nice either way. Love going back to it when I get the time. Plus so many folks to play with after EA had been giving it away for free not long back. It's a good crack for sure.
