but then i started doing other things before switching prime off and my comp screen froze, now when i boot it up, nothing comes on the monitor

theres power and everything to the board etc

but 2 issues i noticed, the back of my 4870 theres 2 little red lights constant lit up and the fans sometimes starts at 100% on the card and the keyboard dosent boot the num lock button

its an antec 650, cost me 70 quid

could the psu is powering everything else tho?

How do you know it's powering everything if the screen doesn't come on? If it's blown/ damaged I'd expect there is enough power to power a few LED's and fans. Does the harddrive start up? Have you got another PSU you can try it with to take this out of the equation?

My 120mm fans all spin and my cpu fan powers up also and the fan on the graphics card also spins

Its sounds 100% normal

I took the card out and both memory sticks and when I turned comp on it didn’t make any beep noises to indicate memory wasn’t there…

Put graphics card back in and memory, take harddrives /cd drives and any extra cards out (tv/sound/etc.) and see if it boots on just mobo, gfx, ram and cpu.

That should be the least need to show post. If it still doesn't work I'd definitely suggest trying another CPU.

I have tried an alternative graphics card now so its not the card 

If I take the card out of the pci-e slot with power pin plugged into card and boot up the lights aren’t on the card.

It sounds like it may well be the motherboard ive fried  its only a p31 gigabyte and I was trying to put 3.4ghz (1.35volts) through it while priming for 8hours

If I take all memory out of the motherboard it does not even beep either :( and the PSU makes all the fans switch on and graphics card switch on fine

Does this sound like ive blown the motherboard and not the graphics card/PSU?

How have you come on I am in the same boat with an E6300, asus p5b-d, x1900xt, and corsair hx520.

Removing components and powering on doesn't give any warning beeps from mobo, tried new mem and gfx, still nothing.

But the most important thing is that my new gfx card is a really really cheap ati £10 thing which doesn't need a 6-pin cable. Now when starting up the pc with the cheapy gfx, the gfx fan doesn't even spin.

Mobo ?
