first: My specs:
DFI Lanparty 915p-T12
LG775 3.2 Intel P4 CPU
Raptor 36gb HDD (main drive)
Maxtor diamond 200gb SATA (storage)
X800 standard
Audigy 2 zs
1gb Geil Value RAM
After enduring abour 4 months it must be now of my computer being to hot, i decided to see what the problem was.
The system has been running fine at around 25 degrees, its just the CPU which has been running at a cool 65 degrees
. its a LG775 3.2 pentium 4 with a stock cooler.
The whole system would shut down after using apps such as limewire and gaming was a no go.
First of all i took the side of my case off to investigate. I then proceeded to remove the heatsink where i was amazed to see how much arctic silver there was on both the heatsink and CPU.

Once i had had a look at them both i decided to spread the arctic more evenly across the CPU like it is in the picture. and didnt touch the heatsink.
Once i had done this and put the heatsink back on, i booted up the computer as normal to find that it didnt want to go past the DFI Lanparty screen so i was not able to get into BIOS.
I looked on my motherboard to see that only 3 of the 4 lights were showing so i knew there was something wrong.
I looked in my motherboard manual and it says that the 3 lights that were on meant:
''Testing all memory (cleared all extended memory to 0)".
I looked this up on google and have found nothing.
Im really worried i have done something to the CPU when i took it out from its place on the motherboard or its somthing to do with the arctic silver. I did touch the pins a couple of times with my bare hands but surely that wouldnt have done anything?
