What have I done?!

What's the retail on that exhaust?

More than you can afford, pal.

:D

If I'd gone for the one I want (damn you NickXX) it would have been more than I paid for the car! Eisennman exhausts are ~£500 for the 318iS...but do sound good.

This is a 'standard' item though and was £90 including shipping. Only other ones I could find were naff aftermarket ones for £120+ or a standard one from GSF for £116 pre VAT. Needless to say I went with the cheapest option and it's paid off. Exhaust note is possibly a bit louder than standard due to slightly different design, but it's not much or noticeable compared to some of the ones you can get.

I really like that. Also think that colour is pretty awesome, until I saw that it's actually silver and not blue/silver. :( :p

Haha, sorry about that. :p

Yeah, I had to replace the back box on my Volvo and these 'standard' things were £150 + VAT everywhere, for only the back box section!
The aluminium tailpipe looks a bit naff, but I managed to get it for £160 fitted in the end (incl VAT). It drones a bit, but better than failing an MOT :)

This thread reminded me that the 3 series is supposed to be a decent track car so I loaded up Pistonheads to see what was available and found this

What the hell happened to the suspension, it looks like it's collapsed or something.

The suspension on that is the least of your worries, could easily put it back to standard rather than the retardo 60mm drop its on, but my god, look at it.

That car has had a life harder than that of a one legged pack mule.

m3 on plate

Just because the car is an M reg with 3## does not mean it has 'M3' on the plate.

But yeah, that one is rather abused and no mention of miles. Best place to look for them if you're serious about them is e36coupe.com Often find listings for cars on there below the price they are on PH due to 'member discount'. :)

UPDATE: 12-08-10

I called a local garage I use at 09:30 asking if I could have an MOT asap, booked it in for 15:30.

I arrived and sat patiently in the waiting room, fully expecting a huge list of items it would fail on, this was my result:

They said one calliper is sticky or something, he tried freeing it up but couldn't get it done enough to be within passable limits. Looks like I'll be ordering some new pads (in case they are worn unevenly) and stripping down and rebuilding the calliper to hopefully free them up. This is something I've not done so I'll either be documenting my progress heavily, or (the more likely option) swearing profusely because I can't do it and have broken something.
If the second happens then I'll order some second hand callipers or something...which could prove problematic as there is no guarantee that they won't be sticky.

Rebuilding calipers is easy, getting the caliper off the car is the hardest bit if the bolts are rusted etc.

You'll be able to pick up a seal kit for bobbins too.

I rebuilt the calipers on my MR2 in a few hours.

This is what I was thinking...so Muffin` has had a major fail her and I've had a major win. :p :D

Stop saying 'to be fair' it's like a management meeting.

It had no Tax or MOT and working it was worth a grand. I think we both got a fair deal - I'd still of rather kept it but fund at the time and my new commute meant it wasn't practical

Judging by how much people pay for them on e36coup.com it'd have been more than £1k with MOT and tax. But yeah, in the state it was thought to be in, was fair for both. Having looked into some of the issues though I can't find them, so in that respect it was a bargain...but by the time it is on the road I'll have spent a fair bit.
