my stock leadtek card is overclocked using rivatuner to the same specs as the bfg oc2 model

its become unstable recently
games suffer from terrible problems even at low settings

i was wondering what kind of overclocks people are getting on their stock 8800gt's

or what the optimum/max/average is whilst still running the reference cooler

recently increased mine to 729Mhz core, 2000MHZ mem

reset to stock, does it solve problem?
clock below stock does that help?

mabye software etc hassle, i had crash and graphics glitches until i re-installed windows for the 30th time (seriously)

temp wise, mine is idle at like 47/48 depending on room temp, with fan at 60% and goes to 60-65 at load, (fan increases to 80% and 100% when temps go past 54/60 degrees

imo memory is more shifty, dont overclock the memory at the same time, do only the core first leave mem at stock..

70mhz will get you nothing more, and i find your lowest FPS get lower, potentially due to extra stress with bottle's the card

Depends a lot - I got a gainward one here that does ~760/2200 and an asus one that maxes out at 680/1980 (won't take the 1.1v mod - just goes to corruption as soon as it goes to 3D mode) we also have a couple more here that do around 720/2000.

I read that a lot of the cheaper PNY, palit, etc. cards top out around 650-675.

830 on a GT? not possible without volt mods and your not gonna be staying under 70C on the stock cooler even if it has the glaciator with the volt mods needed to get 830.

just cleaned the drivers and installed the latest stable ones i could find

it all seems ok now

im going to redo the overclocking for it tomorrow night when i can sit down and get it done

a few settings i have seen around the net are:

700/1800 / 1000
730/1780/950
680/1000/1750
725/1000/1800
700/1750/900

so rough average would be
700/1300/1300

that seems pretty high

i will pop up some results and let you know how this new overclock goes

thanks for the input guys
