What Headset do you use and why?

Senn 555's
Logitech Desktop Mic

I used to go for the gaming headsets, but they broke easily and were not made very well.

I've had the above combo for 2/3 years now and never skipped a beat, so much better spending that little more than replacing every year and much better sound quality.

everyone seems to be raving on about this asus card. Would it make a difference just to a half decent set of speakers or do you only really notice the difference with headphones?

Roccat Kave's

I wanted a surround sound headset because I thought the surround effect would be more pronounced on a headset with multiple drivers.

I used a cheap headset before with CMSS 3D and I can say the effect is pretty much the same. With the Kave's you might expect the surround to be really unpleasant and unsubtle but I can say this is not the case.

They also have terrific bass when I enable "flex bass" in my xonar card settings.

I'm happy with them for the price I paid.

Headphones: Sennhesier PC350 - Modded for extra bass and velour pads. Comfiest headphones ever owned and the best mic I ever used.
Sound - Onboard on x58mobo did use a creative extreme music before.

I use headphones more than the z5500s I have had for a while now because im turning into an old man and find the bass annoys me :p

Koss Pro/4AAT paired with Creative X-Fi Fatality Champion.

Nice big heavy cans although they can get hot a bit hot after a while. Great for music and gaming and come with a lifetime guarantee, what's not to like?

I've stuck it out with my Goldring DR150s but I DO want something more detailed like the Sennheiser HD 595 or Audio Technica ad700. I'm surprised there are no Sennheiser HD headphones listed here on OcUK - I'm sure they did them in the past.

Sennheiser HD595 and Onboard sound atm but previously Xonar DX. Looking to go back to a soundcard as onboard doesn't do the headset credit.

The senns can pick up minor sound much more accurately than cheaper models and the bass makes makes your head rattle when explosions go off lol.

Auzentech Xfi Forte sound card with cheap earphones atm, speakers are Creative Intrigue 3400. I just need a decent set of headphones then that will be complete.

Razed carcharias headset
Xonar dg card

Comfy set with good sound and decent Mic. Not too dear, bit better than the cheaper sets.

Cheap card with headphone amp. Good improvement over stock at cheap price

I use a pair of goldring ns 1000 headphones with a fiio e5 amp, soundcard is an asus xonar dx. Had a few problems in game with my onboard sound. Bought theese headphones due to great reviews and user feedback, excellent for blu ray movies and music as well. If using voice comms in game i have a speedlink spes clip on mic. Not ideal though due to the headphones being closed back.

Headphones: Goldring NS 1000
Mic: Clip on Speedlink Mic

Reason is as stated the NS1000s are a good reasonably priced pair of cans.
The Mic is of decent quality, and I've broken numerous headsets in the past, so having a light clip on mic seems sensisble for me!

Also use a Xonar DG, prefer the analogue.

Same as me, great setup at a reasonable price and coming to this after using a 5.1 headset, the positional audio is a lot better. Along with better sound quallity in general. I didn't realise how bad my 5.1 headset was until using the above setup.

As someone said, the 'real' surround headsets are a bit of scam.
