Hi Folks,

spending time again......My 'Plantronics Audio 90 Headset ' have finally come to their 2 year life span. As of day one the mic didn't work correctly but I fumbled by. Now that I have lost sound in one can, it is time to move on.
Could anyone give me a bit of advice on what is a good set of cans with a mic. I tried the Medusa 5.1's and was very very dissapointed. Some have 'em and love 'em, I'm on the other side of the fence.

I have been toying with the idea of some Sennheisers. Can anyone let me know what the sound quality is like on these phones. I'am no sound connossieur and was happy with the sound I got from my plantronics. I am looking for some proper cans and not the wrap arounds. I am looking to spend 50 quid.

Sennheiser PC150 are the best combo or maybe the Plantronics Audio 90's. I have both the Plantronics feel the cheaper and are a poorer build. The Senns are pretty much indestructible.

The problem is all the combo head sets in truth suck. If you want both sound and mic you need to go seperate, I would if in truth I had the money/could be bothered.

I know Koss do headsets but only retail in the US. Im not sure what they are like.

Altec AHS602 5.1 Gaming Headset - Retail (SP-016-AL)

Look very impressive. Check some reviews out, everyone ive seen so far havent faulted them, and the 5.1 SS is a bonus. I'm still waiting for OCuK to get mine in stock. Been waiting over a week :( !!

Shame you missed them on offer last week though. They were a quality price.

Ive just oredered the Altec AHS502 as a direct replacement to my audio 90s which packed up a few days ago, they sound like they will be similar in performance. If OCUK hadnt taken the 602s off special midweek then i would have had those.

My mate had a pair of audio 90s and compared them to a pair of senheissers PC150s and said there was an improvementm but ow big an improvement he didnt say.

Alright folks,

thanks for the replies. The Altecs do look pretty good (spec wise), I haven't had time to check out any reviews as of yet. I am a wee bit reluctant to step into the 5.1 phones arena to be honest at the mo. I got my fingers burnt on the medusa 5.1's I got a refund etc but it cost me a 10 spot to knock em back. Plus I am happy with stereo. I was told the sennies are pretty good for sound quality. I have a matey who has a pair for his studio work. Albeit a slightly more exspensvie pair than what I am looking for. Going for a seperate mic and phones is an option but what type of mic do you consider. Long gone are the days of attaching a small mic to the end of a straw and blu-tacking it to my headset. Hmmm I think it might have to be the sennies. I like the look of the Sennheiser PC160 Pro-Gaming Headphones.

Oh and can I ask the Audio 90's users. Did you have any kind of serious feedback sounds from day one on yours? I don't mean mic gain but a general sort of buzzing feedback sound. I think they must have been faulty. In order to get rid I have to squeeze the mic until it dissapered.
Just curious.

Oh and stellios that is a rude ole sig, is the image from twin towns?

the 5.1 SS is optional ;) you have to put a battery in the volume thing to get SS to work, if not, you will just get normal audio cxoming out :o
