I currently have an iiyama 24 inch and want to add another, I am only using a single GTX 690 at the moment, what I want to know is what leads I need, my current monitor is using the HDMI lead with a VGA converter to work on my PC, what lead would I need for a second monitor? another HDMI to VGA or HDMI to DVI-D or DVI to VGA?

I tried connecting my old 19 inch up but it would only use one or the other monitor, not both.

I am also quite interested in this question (sorry for hijacking but didn't want to make my own thread as this question has been asked).

I have a single AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB connected via HDMI. Can I just get a secondary monitor/tv and connect it via DVI?

Really depends upon what resolutions you plan to play on. Also if you're already using a DVI output, connect the second monitor to another port (consult your graphics cards manual possibly?) (OP your 690 should be able to run dual monitors easily with a decent resolution) (other guy you may be a bit troubled with running resolutions over a certain amount but I can't remember what ones)

I have two monitors both are 22" and 1080, one is an LG and one is a Samsung...my card is an Nvidia GTX660...one is HDMI( samsung ) and the other is via DVI (LG)...i use them for different stuff , like being on facebook or here or something ,while watching a film on the other ...when im on BF3 though i use the samsung as i think it looks better, ..although i dont have them set up @1080 all the time

Thanks.

My current monitor is a 24". I am also looking for a second monitor for television and films. Also, I would like to buy a cheap XBox 360 to play Red Dead Redemption on it too. Would a TV be a better option than a monitor?

It would depend upon thepricing etc. You could probably get a decent monitor for not too much. But then you could get a decent tv cheapish as well. Depends where you look. Either way for video/tv play back use a hdmi port on your gpu. Ive never setup dual monitors with much hassle before.

I'm running one montor using an HDMI to DVI lead, and the other using a DVI to VGA adapter and VGA lead.

You could run hdmi to dvi and dvi to dvi, or both DVI or one analog converter and digital connection as I'm using

i also run 2 samsung monitors of my 580gtx i use 2 dvi - hdmi leads setup was real simple just plug them in and then nvidia control panel to set them up took seconds.

my sons xbox runs of my spare asus monitor has no speakers set up at min for it so he uses a head set thankfully as i do not want to hear his games while im trying to watch something online
