Hey all just recently purchased a 4k TV which im using for a pc monitor im just wondering what i will need to change or if im ok with what i have but with few added extras to output 4K files from my PC I currently have

Asus z97m plus motherboard
Intel 4690 i5 processor
12 gig DDR3 ram

i do not have a Graphics Card so i presume i will need one for HDMI 2.0

What id like to know is am i ok with the current what i have to output 4k but to add a decent graphics card or would i need to change few things any help be great thanks

Just as Andybird said, your motherboard will happily output 4K although you'll be limited to 30Hz (or possibly 24Hz). Depending on what kind of 4K files you're looking at outputting that might be enough, such as films. If you need to output at a higher refresh rate then you'll need to add a graphics card with an HDMI 2.0 output - the cheapest ones at OcUK with that appear to be the Nvidia 1030 range. That said, if you're looking at running even mildly taxing games at 4K then you'll need something significantly more powerful (and hence expensive) than a 1030! :D

Then I'd say connect up your motherboard output and see how you go. If it does everything you want, great and no cost! If 30Hz isn't smooth enough for you, then go shopping for a graphics card when you know you need it.

Cheapest method, buy a second hand Xbone S. It will play 4k Bluray and stream from Netflix & Amazon Prime etc also.

If you want to watch 4k H265 format you will need a nvidia 10 series card (I know 1050 upwards work, not sure about new ones) or AMD RX4** or RX5**
As said just try it, if it stutters badly then check CPU usage and it will probably be maxed out. I think you can stream it ok though.
