My son likes playing PC games, he loves his PC, never asks for new kit or anything just content with what he has. He plays/has played TF2, Bioshock series, Killing Floor, Red Orchestra, Cupheads, The Walking Dead, Portal, Mafia, Stanley parable. A mixed bag.

He currently has a 6600k, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6970. At present it does everything he wants it to. Only running at 1080p. He has a basic BenQ monitor but gets the job done, Cloud II heaphones. His keyboard/mouse are pretty **** no-name stuff (paint has came off the mouse). He does not complain though and it does all he wants it to, still whoops my *** in games.

Have been scratching my head for a few months for a christmas present for him, he says all he would like is some games and that is it which is nice and all but I would like to get him something else but really struggling with ideas.

He really isn't a "I want, I want" kid, I just want to get him something more than just "games" but he loves his PC.

I was looking at a ultra wide monitor, maybe a decent keyboard/mouse. I know a new GPU is a good shout but as the one he has does all he needs, it will not really feel like getting anything if you put in a new GPU and everything is just like it was, if that makes sense.

Any ideas from the faithful here please?

Thanks.

As you mentioned , screen - ultra wide is great for Racing and RTS though i think most FPS gamers still stick to standard ratio

I thought 21:9 was perfect for FPS?

@nzaptx I agree about the keyboard and mouse. A good keyboard/mouse can be appreciated by anyone I think as they can make an immediate difference. Any recommendations?

His birthday is a few months after Christmas so a GPU could be on the cards for then.

He is a kid so "e-sports" is of no interest, just wants to play games have fun and my thinking was that 21:9 would add more "fun" compared to a "faster" 16:9.
