How will you react?

Will you put your hands up and say... "ok, fair enough, give it to me"

Or will you argue that some idiot somewhere wants to keep tabs on your whereabouts and speed... planting you with 3 points and a fine the first time you go over the speed limit?

Can this be made a poll please? :)

Go mental, if the police cant do their jobs properly then dont rely on electronic hardware.

If it was used for tracing stolen cars etc i would agree, but the minute they use it for tracking speed etc id oppose it.

I think that if cars were installed with blackboxes over a course of several years (yes a long time), the government would realise that certain speed limits are too low and we may find standard limits going up. As there'd be less accidents because people were having to drive sensibly 100% of the time.

Oh and if they stopped people parking badly/illegally i'd be well up for it. Thats on my pet hate list right now!

But surely, because everyone would be driving at the speed limit at all times, then there'd be no accidents and we wouldn't need insurance any more, and the world would have so many more kids not dead, then we could all drive any car cos we dont need insurance.

So it's a good thing, right? ;)

Ah yes, good old predictable El. :D

I was waiting for something like that... quite suprised you didn't say the R word though :p

What, rust ;)

If in theory "black boxes" were made mandatory, i forsee a lot of people "hacking" the boxes to give false readouts or similar.

Thing is, it's not going to stop bad drivers still, the people that usually cause accidents in the first place. A large amount of accidents caused due to excessive speed, but a lot of those are still within the speed limit, and are excessive for the conditions. A black box isn't going to catch dangerous driving, unless a camera was mounted on it and an officer watched the footage live.

Black boxes to brake discs...how is this on topic?
Isn't this what usually happens

But adding to the blackbox topic, I also saw a program not to long ago that was about being able to track people by their mobile phone, I know it is possible now but this was going into the realms that websites were soon going to be appearing that would allow you to enter someones mobile number and find out exactly where they are....scary if you ask me, soon we'll no longer be wanting to drive nor use mobile phones :(

No but it'll provide the government with lots of money which will be used to fund their 'war on terror'. :(

I'd be fine with it so long at the data was only used as evidence if say a copper pulls you. Or say if you're involved in an accident it would be used to find out what happen, how fast you were going before the accident. I can't see anything wrong with situations like that. :)

But obviously if they're on about tracking your speed constantly and buggering you the moment to go above then sod that! :p
