i currently use bulldog as my ISP with a speed of upto 8MB. i think i could get a better deal out there.

what company do you use and what speeds are you getting?

Might be better in the Internet Forum.

Funnily enough, there are many threads in there asking the same question ;)

BT/Yahoo - Pay for 8MB get 512. Get uncapped downloads though ;)

thanks for moving post.

i was thinking of changing to the SKY 16MB service, any thoughts?

Doubt you would get the full 16meg but overall i've never had a problem with them, got activated on time ect.

It all depends on noise on the line and distance from the exchange, samknows will give you the straight line distance but this is not worth much tbh.

There are so many factors that can come between you and a fast connection its untrue. If you are sat on the exchange you have potential to reach max speeds. If you are 1 to 2km you may loose a third maybe more, 4-5km you are probably looking at a 2mb connection?

Quality of line and distance matters, you may as well ask a cross section of people how far they can throw the local dwarf

NTL 10Mbit, get around 9.9. Excellent reliability and nice and fast for the servers that support it.

Blueyonder/Telewest/Telewest broadand/NTL/Virgin media 10Mb, or what ever they're calling it this week.

I've had their top package for about 5 years, maybe more. XP wasn't out when i got cable broadband, and it's been virtually flawless the whole time until around October last year. These days, i'm (very) lucky to get even 4Mb in the evenings and weekends. If it doesn't pick up soon, i'm getting the BT line hooked back up and i'm off to Sky.
