I've seen threads like this in Reddit but these mostly include US or EU connections which as we all know are infinitely better than ours and wondered what sort of speeds UK users 'actually' get these days.

You can go onto www.speedtest.net to find out although it may not complete (it doesn't for me) so you'll just need to take a screencap

Here's mine (N1 London)

Tonight is a little down... I pay for (and typically get) 250+ down :D Not too shabby! Fiber will be here next year finally though!

Standard Sky ADSL. Sync speed is 22339 and can max that out on usenet downloads. Ingame pings on Battlefield 4 are typically 9ms dependent upon server.

Not the greatest but still a very usable connection.

The different testing sites report different results - depends what server you get allocated for the test.
Using broadbandspeedchecker I get around 78Mb on an 80Mb service/line. When first installed it wasn't reaching it's full potential according to the engineer using his own device to check it so another engineer who came went with him made a change. However something they have done has buggered my neighbours phone line so I'm hoping when they fix that it doesn't mean my speed drops - otherwise I'll be complaining.

Test done at 10:20am Sat - a heavier load time. Provider is ZEN. Need to find how to get full potential from it as I'm used to slow broadband. Stream TV? Movies? IDeas?
I've just moved from a property getting 1.7Mb download

I think VM are meant to be upgrading there speeds this Autumn which would mean I'll receive 200 Mbs! Not sure if they are doubling the upload speed... would be great though.
