This thread aint about phone per-se but trying to find out what the number 789 is.

A few days a go, I wemt to unlock my phone. While I was there, the dude dialled 789 on my number - It came up as saying it was a wrong number BUT after unlocking it now says "calls to this numbered are barred".

Im sure the number stand for something as the dude didnt want me to know what he dialled and promptly tried dialling 150 so as to push the 789 down the list.....but i saw his trick. Anyway, what is 789? :p

789 is virgin mobile customer services

Even more interesting, why would he dial that number on a T-mobile locked phone? Is it some sort of code or something?

Virgin use the T-Mobile network so that might be some sort of connection

Either that or he got the number wrong and meant to dial 150 in the first place.

That could be a possibility.

He dialled 789 first then tried hiding it by dialling 159. When he dialled the 789 he listened to the message before i got the phone back (after dialling 150).

might be something to do with virgin unlocking phones for free if you phone 789 and ask them to do aslong as uve spent more than £30 on airtime, dunno if they still do though.

If they do i think you just got robbed

When I had a T-mobile phone I'm sure I had to dial 789 to top it up or customer service or something.

they have promotional short dials that put you into specific areas of the main IVR, or on a rare occasion, direct to a group of agents.
