It was also a "crc" error that stopped me playing bf2 by telling me i had downloaded it and it wasnt a genuine copy (after spending 30 quid on a genuine copy) and still wont let me play it unless i buy a new one.

any ideas ?

:(

why would virginmedia upload a corrupt file ?

Did the file come with a so-called "checksum" file, usually ending in the "md5" file extension? If so, you can verify the integrity of your download using this file.

WinRAR has an option to repair broken files... although not sure if this will work if WinRAR wasn't used to generate the file initially.

FWIW, I never use a download manager... they're more hassle then they're worth. Luckily, I'm on a fast connection so don't need one any more - what speed is yours?

CRC errors on downloaded files will usually be due to errors when downloading; however they can also be caused by memory instabilities (or even hardware errors on the media you are reading the file from, e.g. faulty disk).

1mbit but aol seem to be limiting the speed to 512kbit for no apparent reason.

it was interrupted, twice, however using freedownloadmanager which resumed connection.....bad idea ?
I battled for about an hour today with the program! I uninstalled it and tried Download Accelerator Plus. I know I only just mentioned this is another thread, but seriously it's much better than FDM :) Automatically searches for mirrors etc, too.
