been given one of these as a gift but as daft as it sounds I cant work out what it is

is it a camera, camcorder or some sort of hybrid ?

any ideas ?

after a little research it looks like the buyer may have been conned, olooks like this camera had nothing to do with JVC and is some cheapo thing which uses JVC in the product name to sell it

the problem is that the buyer paid £250 for waht looks to melike a cheap camera

I found the same product on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVxJVC-7500-m...ryZ96996QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the shop that did this wants a ******* bullet

Good bit of research, that is bordering on illegal what they are doing with their hardware name surely? I'd report it to JVC.

the camera was bought in Gran Canaria and web research shows that loads of folks have been conned , the good news if that after discussions with the buyers credit card company it looks like they are going to do a chargeback :D

we get loads of people come in with these at work. all of them saying they bought them cheap from someone and complaining about the quality. its not much fun telling them they've been conned.
theyre basicaly 3 or 4 year old parts or mobile phone cameras and come in a few different designs and names, mx-jvc being the most common round here. probably only worth around £20-£30 in reality.

yep this one is labelled as DVx-JVC dvx is even a product line of JVC , fortunately it seems that the credit card company are classing it as fraud and will issue a chargeback as soon as they recieve the receipt and the camera box ( they don't want the camera ) , this may explain why on some forums people have said that the shop folks told them to leave the box behind to aviod import taxes , it looks like the real reason is to avoid a chargeback when the buyer relaises that they have been ripped off

glad its all being sorted out though. at least thats some good news.

what really stinks is that it was bought form what appeared a normal electrical shop as opposed to a bloke with a suitcase
