What is a "pallet"?

Known what it was for......forever? I use the pallet truck at work all the time and always take it from the front of the shop to the back warehouse. Destroyed a full profile once when i crashed. Oh how i was proud of all the stock on the floor and the alloy wheel display tipped over. :D

If you think thats good.. stocktake at work.. move a budwiser pallet and whoever loaded it put it on one side.. i went to turn it.. it tipped over.. out of 12 cases (20 pack minis) we saved 200 odd bottles but as they are multipack bottles we couldn't *possibly* sell them so you can guess the rest.. ;)

I went to a 1st day induction for a new job the other day. There was about 20 of us. The subject of pallets came up and how they could be dangerous.

The person doing the induction asked this one young girl (about 17) a question and she replied she didnt even know what a pallet was!

Now, i admit it was for a nobrain job (which im only doing on the weekends for pin money) but i thought everyone would know what a pallet is!

What with all these record exam results (sarcastic snigger) i couldnt help but think this was abit shocking.

Is there anyone who will admit on here that they dont know what a pallet is???

That is quite clearly the most unsubtle way of paraphrasing: "I don't know what a pallet is, please explain."

I've known since I walked past one as a wee nipper and said 'whats that?' and 'why do they put things on them?'

If you walk through life not caring what things are or what they do then no, you'd have no reason to know what one was unless you worked in distribution.

Forklift tbh...

Evil Evil things though lol, had one of those pallets fall on my wrist the other week, with a load of flatpacked boxes on it, hurt a bit to say the least.

I have known waht a pallet was since time began, think it must be a boy thing.

Made my first tree house from pallets.

and having driven a forklift for nearly 6 years i have seen a few!

and yep the Chep pallets are heavy especialy when stacked 11 high and sat on the forklift whilst working in a -40oC freezer  wheels spinning in all directions :)

try loading a chep lorry with blues going back :) :)

now thats a bit high and scary lol

we used to hand stack 8 high and yard stack 24 with the forky ;)

as for pallet truck racing pfft

what you want is a roady :)

I work in a warehouse and there is 1000s of these there, I hate working with them, they are heavy and akward to lift plus the are splinter heaven.

ah i used to chuck those blue ones round during my summer job at homebase ;) (couldnt when i started, could when i finished! must have done some good)

Luckily i didnt put my back out over the three months...

i used to have to stack the white and blue ones at my work. I used to em as high as possible for a challenge (thats how boring it was) I think i got to about 20 white and 15 or so blue. damn their heavy and very painfull when ones falls down your shin (also taking a line of skin with it) :(
