What is a Saveloy!

ring piece in a red skin

One of my jack russells found one on the pavement a few months ago and ate it, goes nuts now every time we pass that spot. He liked it, but he eats dog food.

You wouldn't catch me eating them these days, but as a youngster I liked nothing better than a portion of chips, savaloy and a huge gherkin - Mmmmmmm :D

No, on the sunday fry up maybe , brown sauce and chips never come across it up here.

Heaven, local pie shop does that for £1.55 and the owner of the chain of pie shops died last week from a heart attack. RIP

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but some prankster has phlegmed up on your pie BIG TIME!

saveloys are great. although if i get something from the chippy its usually cheese, chips and mayo/gravy.

savoury sausage trounces saveloy anyhoo :p

Hehe.
Saveloy dip with pease pudding and stuffing. With the top half sipped in the gravy of course! I dont like mine with mustard. The look of disgust you get from southerners when you eat one is just excellent. Same as stotties.

oh man them chips look good, overcooked - probably well crispy at the sides.... and sitting in the re-heater for an hour or 2 to steam them a bit....

i like that!

i had fish and chip dinner last night first time in years.. i forgot how good chips are.

I like savs but not when they have dried out on a range for an hour. I prefer to buy them from tesco for 30p each on the deli counter and warm them up myself.

These days I prefer a decent sausage to a saveloy.

I only ever see saveloys in london and places like that, it's not a general southerner thing. Which is good because they're horrible.

Northern fish and chips i've always found to be terrible, but maybe thats largely because I usually buy them from some dodgey chip shop full of drunk people at like 2am.

North East. Discksons butchers, and pretty much every butchers, does a saveloy dip. Its a sarnie.
Fish and Chips up here are far superior to daan saarf. But again, you have to go to a proper chippy!
