Hey guys,

At work they have now fully setup the VPN and i wondered what is it ?

Am i right in thinking that the internet where i work is connected to our Head office ?

So anything that i do, goes there and uses the connection there ?

Also with a VPN can they see what your doing on the computer ?

Lets says i unplug my computer from the wall and plug my personal laptop in, would they still be able to see what i'm doing on the laptop ?

Thanks

Yer, your questions make limited sense ^^

Virtual Private Network - Essentially used to connect multiple private networks together over an insecure channel e.g. the Internet.

Am i right in thinking that the internet where i work is connected to our Head office ?

Obviously we don't know the infrastructure of your company... but it is likely the VPN is connecting your office with the head office using the Internet.

If by they you mean your IT admins then yes. If you mean strange people on the internet tapping the VPN then no.

It's a complex question and you need to better define what you mean. But if you mean using the companies VPN then yer they can see everything you're doing online / on the network.

Lets says i unplug my computer from the wall and plug my personal laptop in, would they still be able to see what i'm doing on the laptop ?

This may firstly breach your company's IT policy.

Secondly, they can see whatever traverses the network cables. So they can track all your online activity yes. Bare in mind the VPN has nothing to do with this.

Think of the VPN just as an extra big network.
