What is a VU+ box ?

It is a make of a Linux based satellite receiver of which quite a few OS's can be put on such as OpenVix (what I use), Blackhole and Open ATV.
There are many different plugins that can be installed.
I use mine in conjunction with a DISEQC motor and receive channels from 28E to 1W.
I also use mine as a NAS.

Lawdy, the ridiculous conclusions you jump to and the rubbish you post at times. The likely reason for this thread is that the OP saw the thread on the MM where someone was selling a VU+ box, and was curious as to what they were and what you did with them.

let's be honest why would you buy this box if you weren't planning on doing the illegal stuff?

the only possible reason would be if you had a motorised satellite, now everyone has one of them don't they? they are extremely rare, i imagine a handful of ocuk members have such a system that requires this box legally and that's because this forum has a lot of tech minded people on it.

pick 10,000 people at random and you would struggle to find one person with such a setup.
 
if the op doesn't have much interest in a motorised dish set up and if he is asking about the naughty side then I guess he has missed the party
 
I got a 1m motorized dish....what would this do for me?

I already get BBC + all the freeview channels and some other random garbage here in France for nothing.
